Kiln Formed Art Glass by Terry Curtis
Creating kiln formed glass starts from simple sheets and pieces of colored glass. The glass is cut, combined, layered and then fused together in a kiln at temperatures between 1400 ° F and 1700 ° F. It is then annealed for strength and durability and then allowed to cool. Once the initial piece is complete, it can then be coldworked, polished or returned to the kiln and slumped into a mold to give the final piece the desired shape.
