Tasty Twist in East Lansing offers a variety of ice cream options, including classic soft-serve and a selection of Ashby's hard ice cream. During our visit with a large group, the staff displayed patience and courtesy. However, compared to other ice cream locations we had visited in the surrounding weeks, the overall vibe at Tasty Twist could have been more upbeat. The ice cream was enjoyable, with a good range of flavors. Tasty Twist might be worth considering if you're in the area and looking for an ice cream experience.
Highly big fan of tasty twist, my fiance and I find ourselves back here at least twice a week... Maybe more in the summer ; Staff are the sweetest people ever, even through big crowds and busyness they always have a smile on their face. Best place near campus too!
I have not been to Tasty Twist for several years. Just stopped by to support a locally owned business. I ordered a small hot fudge sundae. They gave it to me with nothing on it, other than the hot fudge. Which usually they ask about toppings before serving it. I asked for pecans, and the owner/manager said 90 cents extra. Because it was already made, I paid the 90 cents extra. It is the last time I will ever go back there.
Great staff, good ice cream options. An East Lansing must try. Try their flavor of the week. It never disappoints. Softserv, hand dip, twisters, slashes, anything cold and sweet, they have it.
The guy was so nice and patient with my kiddos. We asked for small cones but they were a lot bigger than expected. Definitely get the bang for your buck. Will visit again for sure
Growing up in Okemos, this place has been a timeless favorite. As much as I like Ice Cream, I am grateful that my parents kept me away from this place, aside from a couple special occasions. Now that I am older, I try to exhibit self control, but my love for ice cream is hard to keep in check. I was driving back from Grand Rapids and decided to meet a friend here for an ice cream cone. Vanilla Soft serve is my go to and all-time favorite. SO, What did I do? I didn’t get distracted by all of the fun flurry flavors, banana splits, and hard packed options they had. Instead, I ordered a plain ol’ medium vanilla soft serve. When she handed me the cone I was surprised by how large the medium was. She certainly did not skimp on the ice cream. I like to bite my ice cream, and Tasty Twist ice cream had a nice firm creaminess that made it enjoyable with nice mouth feel. If you’re a “licker” I have no doubt you’d experience a similar sensation. But, make no mistake, this ice cream is no where near the quality of the classic Vermont Creemee. After a while, I did find the outer edges of the ice cream to start melting around the cone abnormally fast so consider that along with how quickly you eat your ice cream when selecting a size. Or, you just may end up with ice cream dripping on your shoes and sticky hands. The best way to describe my experience was like that of a McDonald’s ice cream cone but, bigger and a little better. All in all, this is a great place for a cold summer treat.
AMAZING!!! They had blue moon soft serve! They even had butterscotch dip for the cones. The kids size was an appropriate amount of ice cream and they were great priced!
I love their soft-serve ice cream, especially in a black & white milkshake vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce or a twister. You can't go wrong here.
A historic staple of E. Lansing. Some of the best soft serve deserts, and much more. If you are just visiting, or recently moved here, it would be understandable if you didn’t know the name “Tasty Twist”. Today is a wonderful time to experience some of the best ice cream you’ve ever had with the family.
Is good place unless you want strawberry flavor there is no strawberry soft serve, I never seen a ice cream place with no strawberry flavor
