Never had any issues with enrolling, registration, and financial aid. Easy to access classes online through Canvas. Why wait? Just register and dont read reviews that sway you from your path to personal growth.
This is about the type of students who go here or live around here— Thieves everywhere here. Guard your belongings carefully. Twice I left a brand new book on a table and I went back immediately to get it. They were both swiped. It did not even take five minutes for them to be stolen.
Enrolling as a first time student is probably gonna be the worst part of your experience because each student's situation is different in the amount of paperwork and orientations they have to attend if they are using a scholarship or if they need additional testing before signing up for classes. In addition, the SAT website Birdville uses to store and transfer their High School graduates scores is a mess which further complicates and delays the registration process at TCC. I've heard multiple stories of Birdville having setup duplicate accounts for students on the SAT website so kids were not seeing their scores and it left the parents scrambling to call everyone to try and figure it out while all of the Birdville staff was out on summer break and unable to help. Thus delayed first time student registration as well.
If you're looking to go back to school I recommend this campus. Tccd takes really amazing care of the students. Between social events and fresh food drives etc. the school over all is just awesome!
This is for some of the advising. I have had multiple appointments with advisors at TCC and sure enough, I realized if you want to transfer... instead of getting TCC advice, do not do it. Go to the university and ask them for help because they know what they are doing.
Campus police are useless. There is NO student parking spaces, yet faculty parking is the whole lot and more which 80% is not in use and expect students to hike to their classes and park a 15 minute walk from any building.
COVID-19 testing site is an absolute mess. No cones, cars cutting all over the place, and a ridiculous long line not moving an hour after the scheduled time. I guess they woke up late and didn't set up in time. I've done 2 other tests in Tarrant county and none were such a mess. Absolutely terrible waste of life, do not come here to get tested!
Terrible experience with the unprofessional staff. Wouldn’t recommend taking classes here, try dallas college or sth
The Northeast Campus has been completely disappointing. Our advisor has a history of not responding or answering any questions, leaving us late to try to enroll for next semester. We were unable to get the information needed to proceed, therefore, most of the needed classes for next semester are full. The process of enrolling online in a class is so difficult and complicated, it took an hour and a half to enroll in two classes last semester. Multiple times we had to call the advisor during this process who would explain "loop holes" in the system in order to get the class you need. If you have a student that needs a community college, save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.
There was probably one nice person of the staff the entire time within our visit. “Lynn”, or whoever is in the Advising & Counseling Center, has an attitude problem like no other and doesn’t understand the meaning of showing kindness when students come in with questions. Not only is there a lack of niceness, but also a lack of professionalism, which you could argue is already inferred from the lack of friendliness. But, comments made when students would leave were rude and condescending. I understand you might believe that being blunt is what they need, and yeah, some of them might need that, but there’s a line between being honest with them and making them feel stupid. They’re human beings. Maybe this isn’t the job for you, Miss Lynn. On a nicer note, Rachel was the most helpful and nicest staff member that we came across at this campus. Thankful for all of the effort she put in to help not only us, but many other students- even if the students were in there “close” to closing.
