Teacher Ed. prepares students for careers in teaching by providing rigorous theory to practice applications in every course through fieldwork experiences.
Teacher Education currently offers three degrees to prepare students for careers teaching: in Early Childhood (Birth – Grade 2), Childhood (Grades 1-6), or Adolescence Education (Grades 7-12). Students will begin their general education and concentration track requirements in one of the following areas: Art, Biology, Chemistry, English, History, or Math, preparing them to transfer to a four year school where they will complete their teacher certification requirements.
Provide students with a rigorous and dynamic general and theoretical based program that will assist students in becoming competent and effective teaching professionals. The course work will help prepare students to transfer to a baccalaureate program and to take the required New York State Teacher Certification Exams. Students who complete a degree or certificate program may seek immediate employment as teaching assistants.
