Tejas Chocolate & Barbecue

About

We make rustic chocolate and urban barbecue.

Description

How did chocolate & barbecue happen in the same place is the question we get often. Friends, we just followed the path. We started a hobby at home making bean to bar chocolate. Sales went very well at farmers markets and with some retailers. Then we decided to open our own store. Chocolate sales alone were not going to be enough to make it our livelihood, so we decided to add a cafe to the business plan. When we found the old house on North Elm Street in Tomball and looked at the market, we decided Old Town Tomball could use a good barbecue joint. That's exactly how we got here. We make chocolate and truffles from raw cocoa beans, and smoke USDA Prime Grade briskets in the oldest building in Tomball. We call it The Craftory. Pretty sweet and smokey is what we were thinking. Love to have you stop by and check us out.

Ranked #6 in Texas Monthly's top 50.

If this place wasn't good, I wouldn't keep coming back. If you ain't been, you're missing out. This place is just amazingly good and a cool atmosphere in this old house turned restaurant. They're one of the BEST BBQ places in TX and you should def give them a shot. Their brisket is so good and dang, those tacos today were freaking delish. You heard that song Sweet Caroline? Yeah, its SO GOOD, SO GOOD!!!
Love the brisket and pork belly. The chocolates are not filled I was expecting some of the top inside but are actually solid chocolate truffles and obviously a labor of love, so you decide. In addition, they are a bit pricey at $5 each but they are tasty. Did not try the sides this time but I will on my next visit since I was doing take out. Parking: Large shared parking but things are very busy during the day.
Delicious BBQ for lunch. Had the Brisket and Bleu Cheese sandwich as well as the Bacon Coleslaw. Both were delicious. I also had one of their chocolates, but it was eaten quickly delish so no pic. Their soda fountain had delicious soft drinks not the regular soft drink products. I had the lime coconut soft drink and it had great flavor. All in all, a delicious lunch. They were obviously busy for a Saturday, with a steady stream of people entering and exiting, but we were able to get a table and only had to wait a few minutes for our meal.
I had a few slices of brisket, a link of chili relleno sausage, and a pork rib $37. The sausage and pork rib I really enjoyed. The brisket was OK. The house made pickles and onions were great. My buddy had the brisket baked potato and he loved it. The atmosphere of this establishment is phenomenal and the chocolate truffle case was off the charts delicious. I wish I could try every one of them. Be ready to bust open the Wallet. This is a cool place to visit and eat.
Whole. Lee. Cow. This combo of tasty, tasty bbq and amazing, adorable truffles is absolutely *magnifico* So I guess I should say "Whole. Lee. Cacao." On our first visit 2 weeks ago I got the loaded baked potato topped with sliced brisket. Extra brisket, I think, actually. So. Dang. Delicious. The potato itself is seasoned with their house dry rub, and the skin was supercrispy. Delicious enough that I went back again 2 weeks later from San Antonio - no quick lunch commute here lol Yesterday, I tried to order online. They were out of potatoes, but I still drove 45 minutes out of my way just to get truffles. So far the Don't Go Bacon My Heart is the clear favourite - salty, bacon-spiked chocolate goodness!! - but Dr Pepper infused Tejas Float isn't far behind. I love the silky texture of them. So far have also tried Nutty Buddy and the banana-involved Pikachu truffle SO cute! Nice selection of beers available, and Dublin Dr Pepper too. Partner wasn't particularly impressed with his 3 meat plate - indicated that the brisket was dry - and it was SO hot in the historic little Craftsman house that we ended up boxing up half our food and having a car picnic, but even so... Loaded potato and chocolate truffles make Tejas a top contender on my list of Favourite BBQ Joints
Food was good, location was great and had calm vibes. Ordered the brisket and the sausage, the brisket was ok. Sausage was not the greatest the carrot soufflé was amazing. Chocolates were good but bit expensive. Overall great place for hangout.
Good food and chocolates! Their chocolates are pricey, but worth it. I loved my Pikachu chocolate . The person who rang me up for the chocolates gave me recommendations based on what type of chocolate I liked. As far as food items, I loved their brisket and burnt ends not pictured. The baked potato was ok - nothing to write home about. They also have wine and beer options! If I were to eat here again, though, I'd order take out. The restaurant was uncomfortably warm for my liking. Overall, this place was solid! It's worth a repeat visit.
Wow, just wow. Best pork ribs I've had at an establishment and it was Friday so the burndt ends middle were on the menu. Could cut with a spoon! Also got pork belly which was amazing. Beans were great. Had a line before 11 and was a line and packed when I left. Also picked up 4 chocolates which are even higher quality than the meat! Must have and try if you live in town, Houston area, or just wanna show people some true quality tomball eating. I'll be back. Amazing this is right in town, I believe all the news articles now!
Fantastic Texas BBQ!!! The pork belly is so delicious! Don’t forget to try the chocolate too, it’s yummy and very rich.Food: 5/5
A friend and I had a lunch here. Everything we ordered was delicious. Authentic Texas BBQ was tender and moist and I like the fact their smokiness isn’t overwhelming. We had moist brisket, pork belly and kielbasa sausage with bacon coleslaw. I’ll definitely go back and try other dishes.
