Terrible service… doctor would not even see me after driving over an hour to get to the med center & was only 10 minutes late. I had even called to let them know but they weren’t even open yet at 7:30am.. Then when I arrived at 8:15 I Was refused service by Dr Elena Collins. Totally unacceptable. No one was even in the office waiting and they had only opened their doors 15 minutes before!! I was able to thankfully drive another 45 minutes to a clinic in norwood that was much more caring.
I paid $400 through my Aetna portal for services. Aetna had a different address on file for them and mailed the check to that address per the billing person— after reading other reviews where people describe this same scenario, I’m thinking this may be a common scam they run. Because this business is basically impossible to reach and it seems as though their billing person works maybe one day each week, Aetna wasn’t able to connect with their billing person. Their billing person then put me in collections because she only works one day each week and is effectively unreachable and also seemingly unable to deal with insurance companies. Whatever you do— don’t deal with this business. It’s not worth it. Drive to the next town.
I visited the medical center in April 2016. The treatment I received for a knee injury while skiing was fine. There wasn't much they could do for me at the time other than give me a brace and treat the pain. What I didn't realize is that the pain had just started. I paid my copay. Several weeks later when I received the rest of the bill I noted what my insurance company covered and I paid the rest, $254. A few weeks after that I received another bill for the same amount. I called the office and told them it had been paid. The woman from billing said she needed proof from my insurance company. I went through that process, got the info she requested and sent it to them. Several weeks later I received another bill for the same amount, $254. I called and explained that between Blue Cross and myself it had been paid in full. The woman from billing said "they lie all the time." Several weeks later I received a notice from a collection agency. Now, 6 years later I received 2 notices from the collection agency for $254 and a second for the original $362 that had been paid. If you get hurt in Telluride you have to go here. If you do, keep detailed documentation of your billing because they are untrustworthy in that regard.
Bravo! I am in telluride on a skiing trip from Virginia, and last night went into sudden onset atrial fibrillation with mild chest pains. I came to this clinic as soon as it opened this morning and they got me right in, even though they were clearly busy. They worked efficiently and kept me updated as they ran tests, explained what was going on, what my options were and what the risks of those options were as well. I agreed to let them sedate me and give my heart a jolt, and when I woke up, my heart was beating normally and my chest pressure was gone. As a precaution they sent me to Montrose via ambulance for follow-up, and that was a good experience as well. I’m happy to be alive and grateful to these competent professionals for the fact that I am! Thank you Dr. Dan and team!
My family and I have been patients at the Telluride Medical Center for close to two decades, and they've always been absolutely wonderful - we're incredibly grateful to them. Most recently I had a skiing accident and the whole team was just incredible. Then my husband threw his back out, and again they were amazing - we love everyone there and their care, compassion and expertise.
Called at 2:00am with some high altitude related issues. Gordan the on call nurse was there in 5 mins to open the ER door and the attending DR, was there in 10 mins to see me. Totally impressed with Gordon and the Dr’s smiles after I woke them up to deal with me for what ended up being a non issue. Amazing turn around time on my blood work. Overall a 10 rated experience at the facility. Thank you guys!!!
Went to the Medical Center while on vacation for treatment of a lifelong allergy issue that always pops up this time of year. The "physician", I suppose as she never indicated whether or not she was actually a Dr., was so absolutely tunnel visioned as to "everything could be Covid" that she essentially refused to treat me for my actual problem unless I would get a covid test and vaccination. As I had just had a covid test elsewhere negative, although she never asked, I refused this, which only made her act even more unprofessional-- which gave me no confidence whatsoever in her competence. She railed on an on about her issues with me refusing to let her give me a test and vaccine, all the while not listening to a word I said regarding a lifelong issue I have dealt with. While the front office staff was courteous and efficient, she was ABSOLUTELY the most unprofessional, condescending "medical professional" I have ever dealt with. Total waste of time to even go there, and I would not recommend them unless it was a last resort type of situation. Later update: After consulting with other Physicians after I returned home regarding this situation, and further research regarding the vaccine this clinic was trying to force on me, it was brought to my attention that under NO CIRCUMSTANCES is this vaccine supposed to be given to someone while they are sick....exactly what they were trying to force in this clinic.
My husband took a spill on his mountain bike and needed stitches. We got in and out quickly and everyone was great; friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I’m so, so thankful this place was in town because we would have had to drive 1.5 hours or more with three kids, which would have been a nightmare.
I saw Elena Collins for a year and she really didn’t know what she was doing a lot of the time. I should have known better than to choose to see her after my mother switched from her to Dr Grundy and my husband switched from her to Eric Johnson, both of which helped them immensely. She’s very sweet and probably great if your just sick, but any ongoing or more complicated medical conditions, definitely ask to see another person. She seems almost afraid to works with multiple prescriptions and she got mine, which never change, mixed up a lot. I had to keep calling bc of these mistakes. Just a pain and I didn’t feel safe and comfortable with that situation. Plus the nurse, Heidi, is so rude, she actually told me to quit talking as I was politely explaining what was going on with me. This, unfortunately, is a very true story.
We are fortunate as a community to have such an incredibly talented & top-notch staff who works hard to help our community members and visiting guests medically and mentally. Thank you to all the staff, and volunteers who help keep the Telluride Regional Medical Center running!
