Bud and Yvonne Morrison are lifelong bicycle enthusiasts that have shared the love of bicycling with thousands of friends over the past 30+ years and hope to include thousands more in the years to come.
It all started in 1976, when they turned down a corporate transfer in order to stay in Tempe Arizona and start a new venture; a bike shop. They bought a small bike shop in disrepair on 6th street and Mill Avenue in downtown Tempe (where the Coffee Plantations is now) and got it on its feet. Then in 1988, when downtown Tempe was in the midst of redevelopment, they moved to another location about a half mile away at 330 West University. Since that time, their business has grown into one of the largest bike shops in Arizona with an average of over 500 bikes on the floor at one time and a full range of accessories, bicycle clothing and a full service repair department as well.
With the light rail system coming through Tempe, once again city development has forced another move for Tempe Bike in 2007. This time to three separate locations, one on each side of the ASU campus. The larger one is now further east at the Cornerstone Mall on the NE corner of Rural Road and University Drive. Another is cater corner from the old location at 405 West University and now on the south side of the road. Our third shop opened on 08/09/2010 at 922 East Apache, one of the shops under The Vue near the intersection of Rural Road and Apache Street.
Sales and full repair services are available at all three locations. Rentals are only available at the Rural Road location.
This husband and wife team are active in both riding and collecting vintage and antique bicycles. Bud has ridden thousands of miles on his high wheeler antique bike in parades and events. Yvonne is the team leader for the Tempe Bike Sunday Rides.
