Temple Beth El of Northern Westchester

My husband & are seniors who recently relocated to this area. We were thrilled to locate a local Synagogue. Even though we are fully vaccinated, we are still very cautious in regards to Covid19. So we decided to visit Shabbat Service via livestream 6/24. Despite technical difficulties we were having with website we finally were able to access service. We were both stunned, & disappointed that Rabbi was conducting service apparently "under the wearing ". He stated he had a "head cold", & not covid. Based on what? People have been known to test negative, yet still have covid. And why take chances? It would have been a responsible act for Rabbi to at least have worn a mask! He shouldn't have allowed anyone up on the Bimah, & should have suggested congregation wear masks as well. Better yet, he should have in our opinion stayed home, enjoying chicken soup. We are certainly grateful we did not choose to attend in person after all. We do not intend on returning via live stream & certainly not in person. Not worth the health risk. Rabbi's should put the well being of their congregation first, especially during an on going pandemic!

Went to our oldest grandson's bar Mitzvah. This very modern temple was designed by Louis Kahn. Although Kahn designed other synagogues, this is the only one of his designs that was built. Very good Rabbi and Cantor.
