Welcome to Temple Emanu-El! We are a friendly Jewish Reform congregation in Batavia, NY (between Buffalo and Rochester). Visitors are always welcome.
Thank you for your interest in Temple Emanu-El! We invite you to attend services with us and welcome you to become part of our Temple family. We are a friendly Jewish Reform congregation of about 20 households, eager to explore the heritage of our faith from the prospective of liberal Judaism. The Temple serves the Batavia area, including numerous communities throughout Western New York, and is located midway between Buffalo and Rochester. Everyone is welcome, including families with children of any age and interfaith couples/families.
WORSHIP
Lay religious leaders conduct monthly Friday Shabbat services at 7:30 pm, which usually includes a "learning piece" or D'var Torah and is followed by an Oneg Shabbat. Services typically last about an hour.
Services are provided for the High Holy Days as well as for Sukkot, Shemini Atzeret/Yiskor, and Simchas Torah. Tickets are not required for Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur. Congregants are encouraged to participate in services to the extent that they feel comfortable.
