Temple Israel is a diverse urban Reform Jewish congregation where all are welcome to enrich their spirituality, learning, and connections.
Temple Israel is proud to balance its status as the largest Reform congregation in New England with its efforts to foster close, intimate, meaningful and transformative connections among its members. The temple offers an array of religious, cultural, and social programming aimed at fostering community, interfaith interactions, and inclusion. Our picturesque and historic Boston locaton is also home to a Religious School, the FJECC preschool (many of the FJECC families are also synagogue members) and Beacon Academy, an independent school. Member-involvement is strongly encouraged, as above all, our congregants define our temple. Through our web presence, email newsletters, and marketing efforts, we strive to share the amazing work of Temple Israel.
We work to foster a meaningful, transformative Jewish experience that attracts and retains a diverse congregation from the Boston metropolitan area by deepening relationships and by sustaining sacred community. We strive to nurture our community and involve our congregants through numerous programs, including religious engagement, social justice initiatives, member committees, community outreach, educational lectures, youth groups, and intergenerational events. Our members don't just belong to Temple Israel; our members ARE Temple Israel.
