We're A bit spoiled as we have lived in major cities. However, given the population of the Shoals area this is a great place. Lots of local talent on display, which is very good. Great staff, also.
This museum had a nice variety of exhibits in many styles and media. The staff is always friendly and welcoming and there's always something interesting to see. The museum also has a member show once a year.
Don't be like me and neglect going to this great local museum of art for far too long! Go often. There's a free afternoon every week, but it's worth the fee to practically have the place to yourself on a slow day. I was blessed with the opportunity to see the members collection this year 2019.
I loved the fact my son enjoyed it and he wants to go back next year

Okay, maybe not the greatest museum on the planet, but give the plucky institution credit for spirit and enhancing the cultural richness of the Shoals. The rotating exhibits support Southern arts. The permanent petroglyph exhibit of prehistorically carved stone reminds the viewer of a long-ago world. Give it 20 to 30 minutes and you've more than covered its offerings. Helen Keller birth place is a chip shot away.
I've often wondered about this jewel hidden in the Heart of Dixie. I've passed it by one million times over it seems and I've yet to enter. It's still a mystery that is only a stone's throw away from my home. I'm an artistic person by nature even if I'm not very good at it and Therein lies the mystery. I live and love everything art. Books, paintings, sculptures, nature itself and probably the most heaping helping of music you can imagine. I don't ever hardly watch television. I don't have cable, satellite, etc And I don't want to. I never watch. If I do sit down and watch a movie I rarely get quiet enough to get it all in. I've only recently got Netflix on my phone as a gift from a concerned friend who thought I should get a Dr exam and thourogh check-up since I don't know which Kardashian is which or why it is important. LOL as we all say and I'm on a mission to enter this place this coming week and I will solve this mystery and make sure that you are super informed. I'm excited.
Dick Cooper's exhibit of picture taken at Muscle Shoals Sound Studios was fantastic. I'm always impressed with the exhibits featured at the museum.
