What’s the point of having an appointment when you have to sit hours passed your appointment time. My appointment was at 0930 but yet I’m still sitting and waiting. Stop taking on more appointments or actually accommodate and pay employees what they are worth and this wouldn’t be an issue. All Texas DMV locations deserve zero stars it takes months to get in for an appointment just for you to have to still wait hours and hours to be seen.
I arrived at 2pm - My appointment was at 2:30 - I left at 2:46pm I scheduled my appointment same day. Log on early and check for available appointments. Location was clean, lots of parking, lots of seats in the waiting area and very helpful staff. Robert M. worked with me to get my Texas DL and he was absolutely wonderful. Pleasant, polite and works fast! Make sure you have all paperwork needed and everything runs smoothly. Check the site prior to scheduling, there is a checklist of all required documents.
As other reviews mentioned, you MUST schedule an appointment online. I showed up for my 8am appointment and there was a line of 50+ people outside. An employee came out and called for individuals with appointments only there were maybe only 5 of us. The rest were sent home. Office was great. Very clean and my visit was quick. I was in and out in 20 minutes.
The 3 Austin DPS locations all had appointment times of FOUR MONTHS out with the first available time being mid December this was on August 2. I jumped on the Texas scheduler in the morning at 10:30 and within 30 min of refreshing while drinking a cup of coffee, I was able to grab a cancelled appointment opening for the same day at 2pm. The staff here were all great too and we were out by 2:45!! So if you are dismayed by the huge wait times and not wanting to stand outside pre-dawn in line, try doing this. Good luck!!
The staff is very nice and accommodating. But, if you are looking to get in and out to do any business here, you will be here for several hours. I had an appointment which I scheduled , but it was for two and a half months out, which was the soonest I could get. My appointment was for 10:00 a.m. on a Tuesday morning. I waited for over 3 hours, and did not get seen until after 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon. The place is new & has clean bathrooms which is good because you are there for hours. Plan your day accordingly.
This is an appointment only location, and realize your appointment time is there time you are to check in. There are forms you need to fill out. Ask direction through the process, it's not real clear. Make sure you reference the website and have all your documents!! I had the privilege of working with Renee, she was the absolute best!!!
Compared to other DPS locations, this location usually has fewer lines. There is plenty of parking right out front, and several kiosks to check in when you arrive. Lots of seating available as you wait. The people there are very efficient and pleasant, but you must be prepared! Be sure to have all the materials required for them to process your need.. if you do not, you will be sent away. You must be prepared. FYI at the back end of the parking lot there is a lane specifically set up to practice parallel parking.
unfortunately, my first appointment that I went to was canceled because their system was down so they recommended I come in at 7 o’clock to 730 was when they take walk-ins. When I got to the office there were about 10 people in line already and then someone comes out of the department and says that they are only taking the first three. So then I schedule another appointment but I have a few questions before I go to the appointment so I called and it’s just a robot so she can’t give me the answer I’m looking for. I try emailing them and they block my email. I try to look at their website, but it’s just a blank page with a couple little letters at the top of the page saying 502 the robot on the phone recommends a list to be sent to my phone to see what I need for the appointment they sent it to me and again it’s just a blank page. this is getting kind of annoying and also that the appointments are so far off have to schedule appointment a month in advance.
I’m writing a review to help save some people their time. The TDPS website states that all locations take very few same day appointments. This location does not. I scheduled an appointment online but they book 2-3 months in advance. I tried my luck showing up OVER an hour before they open. I was 5th in line. Waited until they opened for them to let everyone know that they will not take any same day appointments today and will not see you without an appointment because they are short staffed. I knew my chances were not good without an appointment but I wanted to try to see if I would get lucky and I hoped that coming early would help. Don’t waste your time. I also tried looking online around 7 AM as suggested to see if any same day appointments appeared for other locations and nothing was available.
Not sure what these negative reviews are all about... My appointment was at 10, I was seen around 10:25 ish and I was out by 10:45.. I was done in less than an hour. My suggestion, schedule an appointment early in the morning, have all documents ready to go and it should be a breeze.
