Textile Design at Jefferson University - Where tradition meets technology. Follow us here for the latest textile design happenings!
In the textile design program, students learn how to turn innovative ideas into actual printed, woven and knitted products. Through our proven curriculum, students are trained to blend aesthetic and creative skills with the latest technologies.
As a textile leader since 1884, our students are regularly featured at major exhibits, compete in national competitions and are sought after by industry leaders to collaborate on real world design challenges. Each year our students gain exposure presenting their work and winning awards. Last year, our students participated in collaborative, industry-sponsored projects, creating new textile design opportunities inspired by cotton biomimicry. Additionally, partnerships with fashion design students lead to fashion collections utilizing unique, original jacquard textiles.
Adding to the experiences in the classroom and studios are numerous study abroad partnerships. With faculty who remain active professionals in the textile design field, our internship program is one of the strongest in the industry. Our students intern with companies like Urban Outfitters and Abercrombie & Fitch starting their junior year.
Our graduates enter the global textile marketplace with a commanding competitive edge and attain positions in all areas of the industry from national and international firms to boutique and specialty retailers. Last year’s graduating class accepted positions including: print designers for apparel and home furnishings, dobby and jacquard woven stylists for contract and residential upholstery and textile specialists for high performance swimwear, from New York City to North Carolina. Our career placement rate remains among the highest in the university.
