Had some excellent food here and I was particularly impressed with the cream cheese fried wontons and the huge egg rolls. The Thai tea is interesting and has a lot of cream or something in it. I had the orange chicken and my daughter had the vegetarian fried rice. The portions are quite large and it was a good value. It took a little while to get service and our orders in.
The cream cheese wantons are amazing and a favorite of my kids. They also love the sweet and sour chicken. I got the An Nam Chicken and really enjoyed the flavor. I got it at a spice level 4 which wasn't spicy for me but I do like things spicy. My dad enjoyed his Pho. This was my second time eating here and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time. Each time the staff has been very kind and helpful with any questions. I highly recommend this restaurant for dine in or take out.
We ordered tofu Thai green curry, lo Mein noodles and house special fried rice. House special fried rice tasted really good. Lo mein noodles was average but the Thai green curry was not what I expected. It’s more of a broth than that of authentic green curry. The service was great though. If you are expecting authentic dishes then this is not the place but for a quick lunch or dinner it’s good.
I ordered two identical Chicken Pad Thai dishes to-go for lunch today. When I got home we realized that the two dishes were not the same. One seemed fresh and one seemed old. The dish on the left of the two dishes pictured was drenched with sauce, the noodles were rubbery, and the chicken was dry and tough to eat. Our suspicion is that they reheated day-old Chicken Pad Thai and covered it with sauce to mask that it was old. I was only able to eat a couple bites of the heavily sauced dish before I couldn't stomach it anymore. Sadly this is not the first time we have received poor quality food from Thanh Truc and now we will not be returning. I expect better quality for meals in this price range.
Dining In Horror Our server had earbuds in, so we had to repeat ourselves at least two times. They seemed new to the job, they were not knowledgeable with the menu. The menu had no numbers for each listed item, so they had to look as we pointed to each item. Ordered a Sprite and asked for a refill mid meal, server went into the kitchen and the person behind the service door refused the refill, even though the menu in red letters says "free refills". [For a cup full of ice and pop for $3, huh the math aint mathing] Server did go back to the kitchen to relay the free refill message on the menu when we pointed it out. Person behind the service door responded to the server something along the lines with "refund". They did leave the pop off the bill, that earned the one star. The pho was OK, no chili oil, no basil, no bean sprouts, no lime wedge. Hoisen and sriacha only. Did come out steamy hot, soup tasted good. The grilled pork rice platter was OK. Nothing unique. The veggies were fresh and crisp. Meat portion is about 2oz with 8oz of rice. Not worth the price. Cream cheese wontons were delicous. The Chow Fun was good. Surprised it had bean sprouts bc the server said they ran out of bean sprouts for the pho. Took it to go because appetite was ruined. Would not return, having to advocate for oneself constantly it is a lot of wasted energy.
I live in Woodbury and it is hard to find authentic Asian foods around the area but when I found this place I had to try it out and I'm glad I did because it saves me a trip to the city to get something like this. The food was great, it was mostly empty inside but I've noticed that a lot of people ordered to pick up instead. I will most likely come back here again to try other dishes.
Guess the original owners either sold or have new people running the place. The staff barely speaks English either Indian or Pakistani. They don't know the menu. The peanut sauce is horrible the added ginger to it. Ordered an $87 meal for pickup and they tried to charge me $98. Showed them the same order on THEIR website and after ten minutes they said they don't know how there was a price difference. It's ashame this place used to be the best. Now it's mediocre
Who could possibly be giving this horrible place positive review? How could this place even get 1.5 stars? ? We walked in a 1130AM. The guy in front didn’t welcome us. He looked at us like we were from another planet. I asked if they were open or not and he seemed unsure. I asked if we should pick a table and he was unsure. I asked him what the confusion was and he was unsure. Then he said to go ahead and pick a table. He comes back and asks for our drink order. Coffee is on the beverage menu. One of us in our group orders it. The guy looks at him like an alien again. At this point, I said, “You know what? This is too weird. Everyone get up and let’s go to the other Vietnamese place we considered”, which we did. Absolutely do not go to this restaurant. It practically has nothing that as actually Vietnamese to serve you anyway, as seen on the menu and in other posts. Run the place out of business by not going and let a real restaurant take over the space. Or if you are an owner and reading this, please close your place and go do something else. You are embarrassing the Vietnamese community.
Ordered pho special for takeout. Pho broth was so salty couldn't even finish the pho. The meats are packaged into the broth and tasted very much overdone, although there was a good amount of meats. The noodles was soaked to al dente. Condiment garnishes looked so sad. Weren't as fresh and provided only a small amount of garnish. If you're a big pho fan, don't waste your money on getting/trying out pho here. Pho broth definitely did not taste authentic. No beef flavoring, just salty. Maybe I'll give this restaurant another shot for other food items. But definitely not pho again!
Very busy with only one server, however, she did a wonderful job seating and serving us. She was an excellent server, and took care of us and several others while also taking care of numerous pick up/take out orders and phone orders. Spicy noodle dish was great, however, there is never the same consistent vegetables also the sesame chicken seems to be prepared totally different from time to time.
