Thayer Conservancy

This isn’t really a conservancy area that you can visit like you would a park. It is a natural area that was set aside next to the Muddy Creek path. The path is really nice and you can enter near 12th. Muddy Creek or a tributary - I’m not sure which is on one side and this conservancy is on the other. It gets nice spring ephemerals and there are nice trees. Beware mosquitos can be a nuisance like most of the Midwest but maybe a little worse because of the creek. You can walk a long way West or East on the pathway. I added a couple photos closer to 12th looking towards the conservancy.

Somewhat off the beaten path but easily accessible by Muddy Creek Trail and with street parking available, Thayer Conservancy packs a lot of restored nature into a small space. Prairie grasses and native tree species abound, while invasives have been significantly reduced in population. Great birding to be had and deer and other wildlife are not uncommon.

Not sure what went wrong. The directions went to just a plot of land in the middle of a neighborhood. I didnt walk through because there was no parking and was embarrassed to be in this random neighborhood.
