The Afro-American Society at Dartmouth College was founded in 1969 as a means to improve the academic excellence of Black students on campus.
The Afro-American Society (AAM) was founded in 1969 as a means to improve the academic excellence of Black students on campus. While the Cutter/Shabazz Center for Intellectual Inquiry is an Academic Affinity House for students, it also houses the Afro-American Society offices.
Today, as always, the Afro-American Society is an organization dedicated to addressing the needs of Black students at Dartmouth. The AAm provides an important campus forum for the discussion of local, national, and international issues.
The AAm implements ongoing cultural programs and social events designed to showcase the African-American experience. Students of all races and nationalities are encouraged to participate in meetings and activities.
