APPRAISALS OF FINE NATIVE AMERICAN AND
WESTERN ART - HISTORIC, CONTEMPORARY AND FINE
ART PAINTINGS
I have owned and operated a fine art gallery in Tulsa, Oklahoma for over forty
years. I started with an inventory consisting of mainly American and European art. After
a short time, I decided that I would like to specialize in American Indian and Western Art.
Finally, the Indian Arts and Crafts Act of 1990 persuaded me to carry only
Native American Art. At present, I have the largest inventory and have been in this
business longer than anyone else in the state of Oklahoma. Eight years ago I expanded by
opening a second gallery in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
My specialty in the art field is self taught and acquired first-hand through years of
experience working with artists (especially native artists), gallery owners, museums,
auction houses, Universities, dealers, collectors and appraisers. My higher education
was at Emporia State University in Kansas. I constantly take courses in continuing
education that is pertinent to my field of expertise. For example, I completed an
extensive course in Dallas/titled "NAC Professional Appraisers' Boot Camp" taught by
National Appraisal Consultants from Hope, New Jersey. In addition, I attended a week
long class on conservation methods offered by the Oklahoma Museum Association. I took
a seminar on beadwork at The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Association. I
completed a semester of "Native American Art History" at North Eastern Oklahoma
University and finally I took and passed the USPAP course offered by the American
Society of Appraisers.
As an appraiser, I present valuation opinions based on research and appraisal
methodology. I do not determine value, I report value based on proper research,
knowledge, market study and experience.
My appraisals have been accepted by the Internal Revenue Service, insurance
companies, museums, divorce and estate courts and other appraisers. I am
considered a "qualified appraiser" by each of these groups. I endeavor to stay current
with changes in Federal and State governmental rules and regulations.
I have completed hundreds of appraisals. Each one ranging from a single piece of
art to over four thousand pieces of art. My clientele consists of individuals, businesses,
estates, insurance companies, museums, universities, attorneys and courts.
Other information can be made available, upon request.
