I really like their Croissant and cookies. Croissant is crispy outside and soft inside Golden texture! and cookies are not too sweet and perfect texture. Highly recommended.Food: 5/5
Got the arrabiatta. I'm a person who likes their pizza JUICY, and this sauce was SLURPABLE ‍ perfect balance of tomato sauce, cheese, and chilis. The sourdough crust was perfectly thin, chewy, and bouncy too. 10/10! Vegetarian options: Lots of non-meat pizzas on their regular menu Kid-friendliness: Nice big space Parking: Lots of free street parking
A lot of people rave about the food, I'm just not one of them. I think the food, aka pizza, can be very good. The food can be inconsistent, but I have never had a bad meal here. I just think it a little expensive. I also found the service to be slow. In a nut shell if someone else is buying I'm all in unless I'm in a hurry. There is nothing here where I would say terrible food or service. So please try it and make your own decision. Parking: When it's busy parking is a major issue.
Best pizza around. Wood fired pizza oven is what sets it apart. Nice leoparding. Kind of a neopolitan/NY style vibe. Impossible to find anywhere that does a Margherita correctly but they've nailed it. Just the right amount of sauce!Recommended dishesMargherita Pizza
So good! The mini quiche, croissants and pizza are awesome! One of the best croissants I’ve had outside of France. These folks know their craft. Not the best picture of the pizza as it smelled so good I couldn’t wait to take the pic. So many great places to eat in Ghent and Chelsea but this is a stand out. In the evening grab your pie to go and walk next door to The Birch. We've been here around 10 times now. Nothing disappoints! The pizzas are fantastic and so are the pastries. Monday is pizza only day so get your bread or pastries Tuesday thru Sunday.
Super cool hole in the wall small mom pop shop kind of place. I'd highly recommend trying them out the food was really good and it just feels so modest. The pizza is made in a actual fire brick oven with apple wood. The price was good. I would go here over any chain pizza place anytime!!!!Food: 4/5
Honestly from all the rave reviews it was a little lackluster. The pastries were decent but the inside was a bit dingy and the attitude of the staff deterred me from wanting to be there for very long. Maybe I just came on the wrong day, might try again another time 6/10.Food: 3/5
Excellent fresh pizza. The crust was fantastic Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian pizza options
Today less than 12 hours ago my sweet husband treated us to some food from the Bakehouse At Chelsea for our 19 year wedding anniversary via grubhub. The pizzas we both agreed on were the bacon gouda lists to come with tomato sauce caramelized onion bacon smoked gouda mozzarella and the carnivore the carnivore pizza had pepperoni sausage and bacon and mozarella cheese. Luckily the driver who delivered our food came in a reasonable timeframe and my husband and I both enjoyed our pizzas.
Delish! So authentic, organic, local and wood fired. Latex free and Nice peeps working there too. We went Saturday morning and the shelves were full of beautiful pastries and breads. We ordered breakfast sandwiches and an irresistible loaf of olive focaccia, which they kindly cut up for us. I actually asked for bacon and eggs on the focaccia. I asked if they had tomatoes and they gave me locally grown heirloom cherry tomatoes that tasted amazing! My friend ordered an egg and spinach with fontina on croissant and the melted fontina was oozing off her sandwich in luscious gooey perfection. The baked eggs on their sandwiches are the best I have had anywhere. Usually eggs on sandwiches are in various hard cooked forms but their baked eggs are soft and fluffy and cut into cool rectangles. The olive focaccia sustained me through a day of antiques shops and estate sales. Having lived in Italy for several years, I can tell you this Focaccia is the most authentic tasting I have tasted since Italy. I believe it has to do with ingredients as much as method. The Bakehouse at Chelsea uses the best quality ingredients. No compromising. As we were leaving the shop At 10:55 am, a line had formed out the door with people ordering pizzas. Because they start selling pizzas at 11 am! We will be back for pizzas, one day. The best days to visit, if you want pastries, are Tuesdays and Saturdays which I was told are their biggest bake days. I returned Monday morning with my daughter and the pastry shelves were nearly empty but we ordered the delicious breakfast sandwiches and ate them while walking along the Elizabeth River trail which runs behind the shop. I am surprised that some reviewers have called the prices high, I’m not sure what they are using for comparison, the prices, for the quality, are great! You can get a loaded sandwich of quality ingredients for the price of breakfast at a fast food joint. The pizza prices looked reasonable too and although we haven’t eaten the pizzas yet, they look like the brick oven pizza we ate in Italy. When you are used to American style pizza loaded with thick sauce and a ton of shredded mozzarella cheese, you might not appreciate an authentic pizza like what Bakehouse serves. But after acquireding a taste for the authentic, you realize less is more.
