If you are looking for great bread and danish, then look no further. Their Mandel Bread, Lemon Meringue Pie and Sour Cream Pound Cake are worth every calorie. There is nothing at this store I do not like. And besides providing quality baked goods, the Bakery is a great neighbor always ready to help those in need.
This used to be a great bakery. Now it is just average. When you walk in the help seem uninterested and bored. The store is so dated. Obviously ownership is not spending money to make the store appealing to customers. Chocolate bobka is good. Philly fluff is good. Seven layer is much too sweet. Breads are generally fresh. Unfortunately the Bakery is not what it used to be.
Disappointed. The salt sticks are mini salt sticks and the onion boards are thick pieces of flat bread and smaller than real onion boards. I did ask if I can special order normal size salt sticks and normal soze onion boards paper thin. I was told absolutely when I found this place but when it came time to order I was told no. My rating is just based on my specifics. Can't find a bakery anywhere that knows to to make these items in the traditional way. Have no clue on anything else.... can be a great bakery for other things but there are plenty of great bakeries.
Great challa bread soft, fresh, and large. Great danishes and even breads and cakes. My favs are are the walnut raisin danish ring and the marble cake. You'll find a long line on weekends so be quick once ya walk in and grab a ticket to be serviced.
When I was a kid living in the Bronx we had a bakery on E. Kingsbridge Rd. called zorro’s, they made the best Ryebread, cornbread and hard rolls I have ever tasted. I lived in Yonkers New York and surrounding areas... but I could never find a cornbread or or Ryebread that I enjoyed as much as the breads I had in the Bronx ...believe me I searched high and wide To no avail... then me and my wife moved to Long Island we tried almost every town but again good night find a decent bread maker.... One of my neighbors told me about this place called THE BAKERY on Glencove Road in Plainville I took a ride from Mandeville Long Island to Plainville New York Brought home an extra large Ryebread no seeds and a corn bread... Eureka Finally found what I was searching for for years and years..... The bakery has the best bread for miles and miles around. Try them and see for yourself.
Fist time I went there I got lost and stumbled on the place, great experience at first. Third time I went I told a lady that works there I drove all the way from Jersey for their pastry she ask me if there wasn't any bakery in Jersey. I would think you would appreciate the fact that I like it so much I would travel that far. I thought she was rude. But that will not deter me from going back.
Authentic and great Jewish bakery! Excellent rye bread and challah, chocolate covered pound cake, chocolate babka and assorted other treats!
