Introducing... The Barn On the Pemi

The newest addition to The Common Man’s distinctly New Hampshire family spent the last 177 years or so housing livestock and storing potatoes on the Peverly Farm in the historic village of
Canterbury, NH.

Keeping true to our Yankee ways, we salvaged this treasure, lovingly took it apart –board by board, beam by beam – and moved it to a beautiful spot with a view of the Pemigewasset River, adjacent to our Italian Farmhouse in Plymouth, NH.

This three-story, 10,000 square foot event facility opens in June 2018, and will host up to 300 guests for gatherings and celebrations of
all kinds. We welcome your early inquiries.

If you are looking for a unique and naturally beautiful venue, this is it. The greenhouse/barn combo is so stunning mixed with the views of the mountains- it’s like out of a story book! Not only was it a beautiful place to start our life together, but the staff was incredible. Carole was extremely helpful, responsive, communicative and right on the ball with everything. Anytime I sent her an email, I never had to wait long to get a response. I had given some direction in how I wanted the decorations set up, but really left it in her hands and everything was perfect- and I literally mean perfect. I am a perfectionist when it comes to decorating and I wouldn’t have changed a thing! Now the food….WOW. We had the steak tips and eggplant dish and both were incredible. Not just ours, everyone commented on how the steak tips were cooked perfectly, tender and flavorful. The eggplant was delicious too! The one regret I have is that I wish I ate more appetizers- not to the fault of the barn- I had someone literally following me around with a tray of my own personal appetizer assortment and she would not let anyone take from it! Our drinks were never empty, anytime a server walked by our table- they made sure we were all set. The whole staff was so nice and always smiling. One guest commented on how they all were genuinely happy to be there. I cannot say enough great things about this place- it was the perfect place for my dream wedding.
As a wedding photographer, I've been to my fair share of venues, but The Barn on the Pemi definitely stands out! First of all, let me start with the view. Holy cow, it's like something straight out of a postcard. The White Mountains in the distance provide the perfect backdrop for stunning outdoor photos. And the barn itself? It's rustic charm is enough to make any wedding photographer swoon. The staff is top-notch too! Kendra was incredibly accommodating. She was very upbeat and checked in with us vendors throughout the day to ensure everything went perfect on the timing end. But let's be real, the best part of any wedding is the food. And The Barn on the Pemi delivers in spades. I may or may not have taken some home in my camera bag. The Barn on the Pemi is the perfect spot for any couple looking for a laid-back, gorgeous, and delicious wedding. And as a bonus, it's a great place to stock up on leftovers for the drive home. Just make sure you leave some mac and cheese for me!
We hosted my daughter’s wedding at The Barn on the Pemi on 4/23/23. It was perfect. Everything about the event and venue was amazing. Guests were so complimentary of the food, decor, venue, and the staff. Our Event Manager was Carole Palmer, who was fantastic. We're so thrilled we chose the Barn and couldn't be more grateful for our experience with Kendra, in particular! She was amazing to work with: responsive, great expertise, collaborative and incredibly helpful throughout. The setting was so beautiful and having both outside and inside space with the greenhouse being a unique and picturesque option for the ceremony was ideal and flexible. The farm to table menu choices were amazing and there were SO many comments from our 150+ guests that it was the best wedding they had ever attended, from the food to the service, to the setting, transportation, accommodations and everything in between. Their group tasting process ours was in March is brilliant because you get to try so many options, and the event itself simulates a reception, which was so useful to really know how the space would feel once full and even help with decorating ideas. We selected a DJ from their preferred list and were so impressed with him, as well. The entire staff was kind, friendly, competent and engaging. I've planned a lot of large business events and had high expectations coming in. I can honestly say they were all exceeded and we wouldn't change a thing! Prepare to be impressed with the Barn and the Common Man Inn!
The Barn on the Pemi is one of my favorite venues to photograph! Not only for the beautiful aesthetics of the barn, greenhouse and outside areas, but the staff are amazing! I can't wait to be back there in a couple weeks!
Having our wedding at The Barn on the Pemi was truly the best decision we ever made. From the moment we toured the venue in 2021, we knew we would be getting married there! The Barn is absolutely beautiful from the outdoor space, the massive fireplace, the long wooden farmhouse tables, the chairs - literally everything is stunning. We worked with Carole throughout the planning process and she was so accommodating, professional, and organized. She really made our vision come to life! She assisted with some decor setup the morning of which was so helpful, and kept us on track during our wedding day/night. The rest of the staff were also so attentive and kind! Overall, we truly had the best day of our lives and could not be happier with our decision to host our wedding here. 10/10 would recommend to any couple looking for the perfect venue for their special day!!!
My husband and I were married at the Barn on the Pemi on October 21, 2022. I am not even sure where to start as far as how wonderful everything and everyone was on this day. The Barn on the Pemi staff went above and beyond to make this day AMAZING. Carole Palmer was our coordinator and we could not say enough wonderful things about her. She was constantly in touch and willing to do everything and anything to make our day run as smoothly as possible. She made our Pinterest dreams come to life! From start to finish she was right there assisting with anything that we needed. We truly felt as if we were family to those that worked at the inn and the barn. Everyone was so kind and caring! We also had our rehearsal dinner the night before at the Common Man Inn and Spa. Again the room and the staff were nothing short of amazing. So considerate and really just wanted to do all they could to make sure our event was the best it could be. We are sad it’s over and wish we could do it all over again! We can’t wait to come back!
Went here for a wedding. Very pretty setting, but even on just a warm-ish day, the greenhouse was VERY warm and sticky. Need better fans! The food... pretty blah, and all of it served somewhere between lukewarm and cold. I would assume this is a pretty pricey place, and the food was "OK"... nothing special, and to serve it cold was unwelcome.
What a magical place!! This venue has it all! It provides the rustic feel of a barn but has been renovated into a beautiful event space. The Barn has multiple floors but is handicap accessible with an elevator which was wonderful to keep everyone included in every aspect of the day. The entire grounds are well manicured and provide an open feeling so guests could relax in a variety of spaces. The backdrop for our special day had the natural beauty of the New Hampshire landscape with 360-degree picturesque views. The greenhouse ceremony space offered a classic victorian style, giving off a romantic ambiance; while fitting well with the barn event space. The large paver patio was the perfect place for cocktail hours. Our guests could mingle while enjoying the fresh New Hampshire air. We had 140 people and could seat everyone in the second-floor tiered dining space, allowing us to look out at all our guests from the sweetheart table during dinner. After dinner, the entire first floor turned into the dance floor giving plenty of room to boogie down! When it got dark, they lit the firepit. Some of our guests took advantage of this quiet space, away from the dance floor, to gather and reflect on the day's events. My husband and I cannot stop talking about what a perfect day it was at the Barn on the Pemi. We are from CT and got married in NH because it hold a special place in our hearts as avid hikers. It was a little daunting to plan a wedding during the COVD pandemic, living multiple states away, but the Barn on the Pemi helped us to coordinate all our wedding day needs. Their preferred vendor list offers a variety of services, and all the vendors are very familiar with the Barn, making the planning much easier. The Barn on the Pemi offered an expansive catering array allowing us to choose the best dinner format to align with our vision. And as a bonus, all the food was delicious! Their Hors d'oeuvre Sushi Martini bar and late-night snack french fry bar were a huge hit with all our guests! People have still been raving about botht hese unique meal offerings weeks after our wedding. The customer service at this venue was out of this world. All the staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional. A big shout out to our Day of Event Coordinator, Kendra. She did a phenomenal job organizing and keeping us on track so we could enjoy every second of our special day. She did a great job overseeing the day and checking on us in case we needed anything. We looked at several other venues but are so happy we decided to go with the Barn on the Pemi. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and beautiful experience!
