The BioScience Program is a hybrid curricular/extra-curricular program for high school students interested in medicine, biomedical engineering and/or research.
The Shattuck-St. Mary's BioScience Program offers students a "head start" in their preparation for a career in medicine or biotechnology. Upon graduation from the program, BioScience students will take away both practical skills and classroom knowledge as well as first-hand experience in many areas of medicine and the life sciences. They will be familiar with all stages of the research and development process of medical technology; they will be aware of all the career opportunities available to science-oriented students, and they will have a focused plan for their post-secondary education.
Maren LaLiberty, M.D. is the founding director of the BioScience Program at Shattuck-St. Mary's School. Dr. LaLiberty holds an M.D. and a B.A. in microbiology from the University of Minnesota.
