Bringing it to Bridge: Community Humanities Education
The work of Bridge is needed now more than ever. Will you join us with your support? - http://tinyurl.com/supportbridgeaula
Since 1999, the Bridge Program at Antioch University Los Angeles (AULA) has been doing something simply revolutionary: providing college classes to adults in Los Angeles who might not otherwise access higher education, at no cost to students.
The Bridge Program was founded by AULA alumna Shari Foos with the assistance of B.A. Program faculty member David Tripp, who served as the founding director of the program. Bridge is funded by the generous support of individuals, foundations, and volunteers, as well as Antioch University Los Angeles.
Bridge has classes at four sites: Culver City, Boyle Heights, Long Beach, and in partnership with YouthBuild (YCSC) in Norwalk.
The Bridge Program provides University level education for students who may not otherwise have access to higher education. Using the liberal arts as its lens, Bridge forms a diverse community of learners that engages in collective inquiry, working to develop strategies to navigate the systems of power that impact our lives. Bridge encourages students to continue their education in order to be creatively and civically engaged, broadening the horizons of possibility in an increasingly diverse and complex world.
