The Broken Yolk Cafe - Plaza Bonita

It's a little pricy, but overall it's a good choice for breakfast. My daughter and I had the pancake combos- she had the lemon ricotta, and I had the cinna-cakes. I was worried the cinna-cakes would be too sweet, but they were perfect! My husband had a create your own omelet, and it was also good. He was disappointed though that he paid to add sour cream to the omelet and only received a small drizzle on the top of the omelet. Service was pretty good, and the outside covered patio had a nice vibe. Plenty of free parking since it's attached to a mall.

The food is very, very good. Delicious, great portions, nicely prepared! They close at 3 pm, so prepare for the morning or lunch menu. The family enjoyed it, too. A little slower service... I think they forgot about us a few times. It's a bit hectic here!

The chicken fried steak and eggs wasn’t the best in my opinion. I’m thinking it’s because the country gravy was overly thick with flour and didn’t have much flavor to it. The hash brown came out nice and crispy and the egg was perfectly cooked over hard. Our waiter Henrry yes with two R’s was helpful and welcoming.Food: 3/5

Usually a great place for breakfast, very pricey but you get what you pay for, they serve large portions!! Arrived around 10am Only waited 5 minutes for a table. This time it was a long wait for the food. Waited about 25 minutes but noticed it wasn't very warm anymore. Could tell it sat for awhile. The food was delicious but would love to have had it hot! We had the hash skillet that had lots of potatoes and eggs, not very much hash but was still good, also had an avocado, bacon omelette the flavors were so good, just wish it was warm at least. The biscuits and gravy are also really good! Our waiter was very efficient and attentive just very quiet. Hopefully next time won't wait as long and out food could be hot

Update: we went back to this place because we had the best breakfast last time. This time, I tried their Ranchero Skillet. Too much potatoes. Didn’t have much chorizo but it was delicious. My sons had Monte Cristo and Churro french toast. They said they were good. ________________________________________ Fast service, kind staff, and amazing food. Our server Ivan was welcoming and friendly, and everything we ordered was top-notch. Their bacon and sausage was actually well-cooked; I don’t know what the IHOPs and Denny’s do to their meat, but it’s almost like they just microwave theirs. They also didn’t hold back with their toppings—a lot of restaurants nowadays tend to cut back on the amount of ingredients they use, but when they say have stuffed French toast, they really mean STUFFED. Expect a generous helping of mascarpone or whatever comes with your meal. If Broken Yolk won’t break your wallet, definitely save up for a special day to eat there.

Had mold on my bread and manager, Douglas Rivas, attempted to say that “it might be” and then his resolution was to not charge me for the plate when everyone at my table was disgusted. Unreal. Please do not come to plaza Bonita broken yolk. Should be called Moldy yolk and toast. Our server was great. Horrible upper management.

If I wanted burnt hashbrown I could stayed home and do it for free. Plus there was small pieces of hair under the food I was served.Service: 1/5

I been coming here since they opened up this restaurant. I have never been disappointed. I think the price is adequate for a San Diego restaurant. Customer service is always great... Now the waiting is hole other story on Sundays... 40 minutes to an hour... But worth the waiting. Order for pickup if you don't want to wait

First time here the service was quick, the food was alright, got the chicken fried steak. if i go back ill try something else.

Arrived at opening. Seating & food was served quickly. Service was excellent. Choice of music good for the breakfast atmosphere.Food: 5/5
