We only stayed one night, but wished we had a longer stay. The bathrooms were clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the ice-cream at the shop!
The price of electric/water site is $40 not$30 as stated on website. Nothing fancy . Large One stall , one shower . Womens bathroom fine but mens bathroom was neglected. Cute kitties welcomed us.
I absolutely love it here very beautiful in all seasons very nice staff I highly recommend the buckhorn to stay at and they have the best ice cream around great camping great people Restrooms: Hot showers clean bathrooms very nice Dog-friendliness: They are dog and cat friendly Picnic area: They have picnic tables and fire pits at every tent spot and every camer rv lots I love it here
Came in near closing after finishing up a section of the MABDR. They couldn't have been nicer! Whipped us up a few pizzas, got us some ice, and we grabbed some sodas. Set our tents and grabbed hot showers in a spotless bathhouse. We chatted about the route with the owner and she's really motivated to host riders. Really cool people, great site
First the website says $35/night, it's $50/night. Electric was wired wrong so I had to rig it up to work, 2 days later they fixed it. Sewer connection was broken off so couldn't screw into it and ended up piling rocks on top of my hose to keep the mess down see pics. Went to use the picnic table and it was broke so I had to screw it back together. Also the leash rule was ignored by some with larger dogs and some weren't picking up after their dogs. Found a few in the yard. State Park is down the road, nicer and cheaper, just doesn't have sewer only dump stations.
Very lovely people. Friendly and will do what it takes to make your visit enjoyable. They didn't have the spicy wings so the owner brought several different hot sauces from their home to sample. That's special! Unique atmosphere with many different flavors of ice cream and sherbet to top off your visit or just come for a taste. Loved it.
I came with plans to spend one night in my tent before the "Agony in the Alleghenys" bike race the following morning. Rain was coming and I was hurrying to get my tent set up before it hit and it really came down that night. Before I could get my tent set up, Ray drove up and told me that he didn't want me to spend the night in a tent during a tornado warning! He put me up in his rental RV that night at no additional cost. That's what i call great service! The store and all the facility was very nice. I would certainly recommend them.
Pay 600 dollars for a parking spot and utilities. You would think they would or could allocate some funds for repairs and services. At least five other customers have experienced electrical problems, due to their faulty outlets. I have had to replace surge protectors, plugs, breaker's etc. Every time one of their outlets malfunctioned and had to be replaced. Usually leaving whichever customer without the services they had already payed for. Look at my photos and posts in my profile. Explains the whole situation. :
My friends and I arrived after a long day of riding the MABDR. We chose the Buckhorne because of the “store”. We just wanted a nice place to set up our tents and relax. Upon checking in we noticed the owner slurring his words. I won’t go in to the altercation he and I had, but he was very, very, drunk. Words were exchanged and if we weren’t so tired we would have found a better place to stay. The young lady that was working there apologized several times for his behavior. Unprofessional to say the least. If you’re going to run a business, a least wait until you get home to start drinking.
Very nice campground near the state park. Read the other reviews and agree: the ice cream in the store is EXCELLENT. We also bought a pizza and were pleasantly surprised at how good it was, since we had seen many Hunt Brothers pizza signs but had never had one. The wifi is strong, something I wish other, far more expensive-thinking KOA-campgrounds had. Site 12 is their pullthough for overnighters and it worked for us: we did not unhook and the gravel site was fairly level. Be aware, there are some annoying, barking dogs that forced us to close our door and windows; but overall, we'd stay here again. We camped at The Buckhorne Country Store and Campground in a Travel Trailer.
