Amazing place. Looks like a military history museum but everything is for sale. Definitely recommend for any history buffs or reenactors. Don't listen to the haters. The guy that runs it is very polite and knowledgeable and very willing to listen and answer any questions we had. You do have to make an appointment but it took 30 seconds. Highly recommended
Why have I never heard of this place! This is a museum where you can buy things. The collection is AMAZING, the guy was friendly and knowledgeable.... talk about guns and history and he'll keep you busy. I can't believe this place is here it is really an amazing place even if you just go visit.
Stopped in and was told you need appointment to go down to bunker...very disappointed. Guess they were not interested in selling anything. Dont waste your time.
Very nice and friendly gentleman that runs the place. The perfect place for people that appreciate war history and antiques. Great experience overall
Terrible experience. I was interested in a weapon and the shop owner initially answered my questions, although he was obviously annoyed that I was asking for details on a very old 1940s firearm. I live about 2 hours away so I wanted to know as much as possible about the firearm before driving the distance. I asked if I could purchase a sling and oiler for the weapon and the owner told me he wasn't going to answer any more of my questions, that he was no longer answering questions about the weapon. I assume the owner is hiding something about the weapon as this is very unusual. Customer/Buyer beware, be sure to read his reviews on gun broker as well, he has several Fs and he's on the verge of being kicked off of gun broker.
Was hunting down a very specific firearm and happen to find it on GunBroker now I have never placed a bid or anything and I ask at the bunker if I could give him the money and he handled the rest it came in the day after new years and I have never been more happy
Took my father-in-law this weekend as he loves old military antiques. He was in Hog Heaven. The people were so knowledgeable and helpful. I appreciate how kind you were to us and took time to explain the pieces he was interested in. I was referred from a friend and will definitely pass this hidden gem on to others. 5 stars. Thank you and God bless!
The Bunker is the only source of quality vintage military firearms and militaria around. Mr Fornehed's knowledge of the subject is amazing. He is always willing to educate and explain the history and intricacies of different firearms. Various military periods are represented although the emphasis is on World War II militaria. The decor of the shop is like a museum, except that you can buy an exhibit. There are no racks of look-alike black rifles or showcases of anonymous pistols. A great place to bring visitors who are interested in militaria and history.
The Bunker is a refreshing venture back into the days of high quality, antique arms shops. There are pristine rarities combined with affordable and desirable military arms, along with a variety of associated antiques and accoutrement. I make it a point to stop in when I am in Cookeville.
If you are looking this up on google maps, its below the antique store. Walk in and go all the way to the back and take the stairs on your right. This place could ver well be a museum. WW2 era guns and memorabilia. It almost feels like a movie scene because of how well decorated the place is and how old all of the guns are. Mauser pistols, nagants, Enfields, all the classics. If you are looking for a place to buy a 250$ shotgun, this IS NOT your place. Those looking for classics in good condition would love this place.
