Real Butter. Real Sugar. Real Good.
Hey there! Welcome to the Cake and Company. Are you comfy? Take a sec and get some tea or coffee. Take off your shoes if you want. I can't smell your feet, I promise. I wanna tell you a story . . .
Once upon a time there was a little girl and an Easy Bake Oven. I have on good authority that this little girls parents HEAVILY regretted their decision to purchase that particular Christmas gift, but this little girl loved her Easy Bake Oven. She baked countless "just add water" treats for her parents to sample. They grinned and bore it for her sake.
So when this little girl decided she wanted to bake the cake for her dad's birthday party, her parents were understandably skeptical. Those Easy Bake Oven treats? Well, they did not inspire much confidence in her un-tested "real life" prowess. But that little girl was determined. Armed with a recipe and overflowing confidence, she baked her pop a birthday carrot cake. Unbeknownst to the little girl (until much later in her career), her momma begged the party goers to appease her daughter. "Eat the cake", she told them. "My daughter made it. She's never done this before but she's so proud of herself. We couldn't talk her out of it." There was no back-up cake, the little girl insisted on hers and hers only. This cake had to be good because most everyone knows there aren't many things worse than bad cake. Especially on a birthday.
Much to the little girls parents surprise, the cake was a hit. Truly. There was no appeasing a bright eyed kid for the sake of her feelings; the party goers were honestly enjoying the cake. "It's good. It really is very good", they said. And that little girl, flour on her nose and traces of creamed cheese in her hair, fell in love . . .
My name is Tikea and I baked my first cake (carrot, for my dad) when I was 8 years old. I've been a mad kitchen scientist ever since. I still get as excited when creations come out of the oven as I did all those years ago. Whether you need a pie for Thanksgiving, cookies for the office, or a wedding cake, my goal is to deliver something as beautiful as it is delicious every time. So tell me . . . What can I bake for you?
