Took my husband today for severe stomach pain. The ladies at checkin was rude. We sat down and got called pretty quick. The nurse who took his vitals was nice enough. The room was filthy, sand on the floor in spots, tape stuck to the bed rail, and curtain wouldn’t close all the way because some hooks were broken. They ordered a CT scan. We finally got the results from a nurse! She came in telling us the medications that was prescribed and we asked her what the CT scan showed. She said it showed inflammation and infection of the intestines. They took blood work which we were never told the results. Also, the nurse said they needed an urine sample. My husband told them that he needed some water. They gave him water and his prescriptions. The doctor said that he could go home. They never got any urine. They said he would be hurting for two days and the medicine would make him drowsy. We asked about a work note and was told they didn’t do that. I guess they thought he could work in pain or under the influence of pain pills.
I want to love this hospital because having a local hospital should be an asset, unfortunately, that's so far from the truth. I believe whole hearted that SRMC should not only be investigated but more importantly shut down. ED staff and on call surgeons nearly killed my mother in April of 2018, multiple visits to the ER for severe stomach pain and being sent home, she was finally admitted after I called an ambulance concerned of her mental state at home, she had become unaware of her surroundings and declining health. Upon being admitted I witness the on-call surgeon threatening my mother with exploratory surgery if she didn't start to feel better by the afternoon. Within 30 minutes my mother's intestines ruptured and she was rushed into emergency surgery where she recieved a colostomy bag and 2 days in ICU but not before nurses expected me to get my mom prepped for surgery in the shower hot water was not working with zero instruction and a couple ounces of iodine. While in the ICU I experienced sub-par wound care to an open incision into my mothers abdominal cavity. I began researching hospitals with appropriate wound care, in this case, a wound vac, because her entire stomach had to remain open for any remaining infection that had been allowed to rupture to drain. SRMC ICU had a broken AC unit so they gave my mother a box fan and expected the wound to be redressed with dry gauze multiple times daily being opened to a hot, windy, recirculating air system. The on-call surgeons husband then took over my mother's care after the main surgeon left for vacation we were told and when I asked for a transfer of care to a more capable hospital he treated me with the most classic chauvinistic attitude telling me no doctor would even want to accept my mom's case though I already had that lined up specifically for appropriate wound care again, threatening behaviors to comply. After two years of therapy the damage they caused my mom was fortunately able to be mitigated by real doctors. Fast forward to last week, my son presented with a lump in his neck and fever. We were discharged with antibiotics and had trust in the diagnostics done, the treatment implemented. As it would turn out my 1 year old son was sent home on the wrong antibiotics, allowing his condition to worsen, the 2 days lost on this treatment, I believe, contributed to his ultimate need for surgery. I believe, had appropriate intervention began at our first search for medical care, my son should have been able to recover without needing surgery and a hospital stay on IVs. I will pray that if you have a family member who needs genuine care, you find this review, read it, and make what ever hour + drive you need to make to ensure proper medical care.
Came here last night with my daughter and sat in the waiting area for 2 hours. We were finally called into the back for triage. After triage the nurse asked me to take a seat in the HALLWAY. Where registration came to verify information. That's a HIPAA violation. They wanted me to give out my PHI infront of other patients in a hallway. If you're not ready to have someone in the back, then leave them in the waiting room not in a hallway.
Horrible hospital, makes you wait a long time while you are suffering pain , i wouldn’t recommend going here ever, dirty bathroom , no drinking fountain water , Ever nurse is careless. They need step up their work and treat the patients with respect.
Its pretty ridiculous when the rescue squad tells the administration to put someone at the end of the list to be seen because they don't feel like the patients pain is nothing. How can someone get away with saying something like that and here we have been here now 2 hours and she has yet to be seen. people that have come in after her are being seen and not a word has been said since we have been here
I went to this hospital, presented with discoloration of right leg, warm to the touch and severe pain. The NP told me that because I was a diabetic I needed high blood pressure medication. I had to literally beg for an ultrasound to detect a potential clot and all I got was pain meds and high blood pressure meds and I have never had hbp. I pray they do better.
My sister is in SRMC and has been for almost 2 weeks now. The quality of care she has received goes beyond exceptional!! The doctors, nurses, aides, and staff from the ER to the third floor to ICU have been nothing but wonderful. She could not have received better care at any other facility. I am thankful and appreciate all their hard work!
First I want to say the old reviews are exactly that! Old. They have remolded and revamped their services extremely well. So Truly was an Amazing experience for me personally. The nurses and the doctors were extremely caring and diligent when treating my needs. They asked me questions and never had a rude tone or expression toward me. The wait time was long, but what do you expect in a hospital full of emergency patents? Overall This place is good for everyone. Just treat them with the respect they deserve and everything should be fine!
This place is horrible. Just go to Fayetteville. This would be my 3rd time coming here and only one time they helped me. The nurses are rude. My lungs hurt and my lower back hurt and they did nothing. They didn’t give me a x ray on my lungs because they said they don’t them at night time. They took my Covid and flu and urine and never came back for the results. The nurses was cold and making jokes about patients. I never seen such unprofessional people in my life . I waited 6 hours just to walk out still feeling bad.
My father was admitted to this hospital on the day after Easter for sepsis after being sent home the day before with UTI. He placed his new dentures on top of his cell phone in a napkin because they didn't give him anything to place them in. The person who came to tidy the room threw the dentures in the trash. We filed a claim with the hospital, but they have refused to speak with us despite numerous visits to see them regarding this. My father is now in the nursing home on antibiotics. He can't eat much of anything without his teeth at the age of 82. Thank you Sampson regional for all that unprofessional, you think, professional help you say you strive to give patients and their families! You might look good on paper, but we all know the truth!
