Check out the Global Service Project 2013 on http://www.TheCitizenTraveler.com!
The Global Service Project is unique in that it combines study abroad and international volunteer service into a single two-week program. While our inaugural project will be held in Belgium, each year we will select a new destination for our service project to make a truly global impact!
The Global Service Project provides students with an opportunity to earn academic credits for participating in a group volunteer project in an international setting. It is intended for students who wish to expand their educational experiences beyond the traditional classroom setting by working directly within another culture. It engages students in meaningful volunteer activity for the common good. Ultimately, students will gain understanding, acquire knowledge, and develop the necessary skills for living in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world.
This program takes place in a 100% experiential learning environment - no classrooms and no lectures! Instead, students earn academic credits for assignments completed in real-world settings.
The Citizen Traveler (and its Center for Global Social Impact) is an educational organization whose goal is to promote mutual understanding across cultures and countries through international experiences and intercultural education. We combine study and volunteer abroad into programs that help students develop personal and social responsibility while promoting global citizenship. We aim to increase access to international education by designing programs that are self-paced, short-term, and affordable. All of our programs are open to university students and recent graduates from across the globe, and we encourage participation from students from diverse backgrounds and countries.
