A beautiful gem on the Mississippi Gulf Coast which was discovered in 1699. Her beauty lives strong today.
Located on the Gulf of Mexico at the mouth of the Bay of St. Louis in Hancock County, the area was originally claimed on August 25, 1699 by Pierre le Moyne d'Iberville and his brother, Jean Baptiste le Moyne Sieur de Bienville. This day was the Feast of St. Louis, a memorable church day commemorating the death of King Louis IX of France, who was made a saint by Pope Boniface VIII after the kings death in 1270.
Native Americans of the Choctaw Indian tribe were the first to welcome these visitors, however to this day the people of Bay St. Louis continue this tradition of Southern Hospitality!
