We were there for a concert. Leonid and Friends! Staff was very polite and helpful. Sound quality was great and seats were actually pretty comfortable! Great venue for all types of events and historical! We cant wait to go back for other events!!!!!
Proper retro and cool place to go and watch a film. They show plenty of classics and all the decor is original. My only problem is.... Mid way through the film i went out to get a drink and they had already closed it. Apparently they of this about half an hour after a film starts. So, if you visit, make sure you get whatever drinks / snacks etc you want before the film starts.
This place is just magical if you love film history and have love and appreciation of old school movie theater is for you. I love this place place for blob history alone. How many people can say they sat in the theater where the blob attack movie goers in the 60s and actually get to react it every year with blob fest events. Even if your not there for blob fest they host various older movies, live events, and newer features you may not find everywhere to enjoy. There always something to do through out the week and weekend. I am horror and science fiction fan and over the last couple years they have really stepped up there programing in that realm. And I have been able to experience some great meetings with others from genre community and people who work within it. This place def celebrate the past with there history, features and events. But also moving to the future with there added wing and concession stand. Its a place to feel comfortable and celebrate cinema history with others at a cheap and reasonable prices. If you go here for a event it wont break your bank and it goes to a great cause of helping to preserve history of cinema past and also with improvement to there future. Another thing is you can become a member at some fantastic value and it def pays for itself in the end and worth to have. Plus gives discounts to some wonderful places in the area. Depending on tier membership you can get advance ticketing, discount tickets, discount concessions and more. Best part again it goes to preserving this historic place and! a staple in a now thriving community. Make the trip and youll hardly ever be let down. And also has amazing shops and restaurants in the area. Great for date nights and movie with historical back drop. Just beware of the blob!!!! Never know when the red menace may pop up again. Well usually summer but thats our secret. Remember to bring your fire extinguisher CO2 will keep him at bay lol.
Of course the Colonial is a great movie experience. Popcorn was great. Intimate seating was great. Cleanliness was OUTSTANDING. The FRIENDLINESS of the staff was exceptional. And all of this on a Wednesday night... you can't go wrong. I mean, you can, and that's why chain theaters like Regal are closing. Please, google the town to see where to park, it's super easy download the app! And enjoy the show.
Had a great time seeing a move premier here. The theater we were in was old and not renovated which gave it more of an old school step back in time sort of feel. While the lobby and the other part of the facility was upgraded and well kept. So having the other theater to see the picture just made it feel more authentic. Looked at the list of events coming up and was surprised by some of the interesting events coming up which seemed like would be a lot of fun and come back to check out. Was a fun night out and definitely interested in coming back.
This is a beautiful historic theater. Historic as in retro as in old. If you are in their 1903 theater which is the original theater for the Colonial you can expect some areas in need of repair but overall the theater is clean and the seats while old school are not bad even for “larger” adults. This is the theater you see in the 1958 film The Blob. And every year the Colonial celebrates with a Blogfest which includes a re-enactment of the run out of the theater as seen in the movie. Plus a street fair and of course screenings of the classic films on the big screen. In recent years they have expanded to the old bank next door and added two additional more modern theaters. If you are looking for a theater with recliners the colonial is not for you, but if you want a truly great experience and enjoy a retro feel. This is the place for you. The bathrooms are always clean and stocked. The concessions are fairly priced unlike other theaters. They offer food and adult beverages as well as movie theater classics like popcorn and candy. The two theaters in the bank and new large concession stand are all great additions to this classic theater. I have attended films in all three theaters, concerst in the 1903 theater, and events like Blobfest and have enjoyed every one. Thank you Colonial for keeping a great theater great.
Not a large oversized theater. Very comfy and not a bad seat in the house. I love supporting the small businesses. We saw the movie 'A Star is Born'. Also they have great shows and music concerts there. We have seen many great artists over the last few years.
Amazing! My first vacation away without my family, I'm proud to say being here for Blobfest and MST3Kon, an amazing experience. Best vacation ever I've ever had.
It's an absolutely beautiful gem of a theater. I plan on coming back frequently.
If you're visiting the Colonial Theatre, and want to be safe: DO NOT sit upstairs in the balcony. There are no railings in the balcony. Not only have I seen other people fall, but a person in my group fell and was injured during a recent sold out showing of Jaws—a blown fuse led to zero lights in the balcony and no one noticed until the person in my group was hurt. I do not take leaving this negative comment lightly as I am a member of the Colonial, had my wedding at the theatre, and have been a supporter for almost 20 years. But Colonial leadership could really care less, so I guess it's up to me and anyone else who has fallen to let you know that if you visit you're on your own. The Colonial certainly is not interested in your safety. Turn on your flashlights and hope for the best. Good luck!
