The Commons: Center for Food Security and Sustainability

Was there to talk to a staff member about an upcoming event but they were serving free food for the community. They have a free fruit/vegetable stand, too!

I love this place! I haven't lived in a place that have a Community Garden, Community Kitchen, and Community Pantry until I moved to Silver City. We are so my lucky to have it! A place that helps families and residents not only with extra food but volunteer opportunities, an extensive and beautiful garden ripe with volunteer and educational opportunities as well as abundant produce, and regular events that build awareness for farming, growing, and volunteerism. The kitchen and space is always available for very reasonable rent for use for food products makers, chefs, pop up restaurants, and events. This place has been a blessing to me and my family, and many others in this community more than they can know. We, this town, are very lucky to have this in Silver City.

I went to a seed sorting field day that was fun & educational!

An important asset for the community of Silver City, complete with a certified kitchen and programs to help develop stronger food sovereignty and to food justice for the community. Also, it is the most beautiful public building in Silver City.

Every community should be so lucky as we are to have The Commons

They r the best... My ride went shopping and left me there to freeze and 3 of the volunteers offered me a ride home...i live 20 miles from there...thank u volenteers

Food pantry, beautiful community garden, accessible multipurpose commercial kitchen. Offers programs, projects, and dialogue to benefit the community.

Always love this place when the gardens are in full glory. It is great that they grow food for the community.
