This staff is extremely friendly and keep their store stocked with a great variety of beer! Lots of selection from VA, but great distribution of nationwide craft beer.
Absolutely amazing customer service. All the guys here are great and they know beer. On multiple occasions I've asked for a good IPA & they have always delivered. I've actually found many breweries that are now my "go-to's" by trying what the employees suggested. Not only is the customer service great but the selections & prices are as well. I would highly recommend The Craft Beer Co. to any craft beer enthusiasts.
I have tried really hard to like this place. I really have. It's super convenient to both my home and work, they often have rare beers that can be hard to find elsewhere, and the space is nice. But after several unpleasant interactions with the staff, where in one case they called me a liar about a fact I knew and confirmed was correct, I really can't recommend this place. Prices are relatively high and, despite their claims, more than "about $1 more than most places". Hard to justify shopping local when a sixer of Bell's two-hearted ale is $12.99 versus just about everywhere else's $8.99-$9.99. And despite their claims, this price is not below wholesale and therefore illegal. Granted it might be below THEIR wholesale, but that's not on me, I remember how much I paid last week elsewhere. Need proof? Just check the tags at total wine. There's a chance I'll go back to pick up a bottle of something I can't get elsewhere, but I have to admit it'll be grudgingly. EDIT IN RESPONSE TO OWNER: Just want to be clear that it's not the pricing I had the issue with. I have worked retail and understand differences in wholesale based on volume, and understand that small businesses often have to charge a bit more to make ends meet. My issue was the assumption on the part of the staff that I had no idea what I was talking about and your direct claim that I couldn't be correct about what I was saying. Also, no explanation was given after I was told unceremoniously that I was wrong, and I just didn't really feel the need to stand there and argue with you. Also, if the $8.99 price is a markdown, then they have it marked down literally all the time, so hopefully my mistake makes sense there. My issue overall is that it's my choice whether to pay a premium to shop local, and I didn't appreciate being told I was an idiot, frankly pretty rudely, over a six pack of beer. My review reflects a long term attempt to give you guys my business and the benefit of the doubt, and I stand by it.
Great beer selection. 1 star off simply because they don't do a good job of keeping up with their available beer selection in their chosen online presence fb and untapped.
These guys are friendly, really know their beer, and continue to stock their shelves and growler station with an awesome selection!
