"The Dolphin was started 70 years ago by the current owner Nancy Smith’s grandparents and has been a landmark in Barnstable Village ever since. A hands-on restaurant for three generations, patrons will always be greeted by a friendly face who often knows your name. The Dolphin prides itself on its continuous effort to improve and restore the restaurant’s legacy of fine dining in Barnstable Village. Our white picket fence and well groomed landscape, gives our exterior a pristine, New England feel. Our tables are dressed with white linen and fresh flowers. Our wood shines, the glass sparkles and the granite bar has a nice glow."

Great spot for delicious see food in Cape Cod. The staff is pleasant, and the bathrooms are clean. The clam chowder is also very tasty.
The food is amazing!! Not a single disappointing bite lol. Started off with the scallops with bacon and pork belly and main dish was pistachio crusted salmon with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Let's just say I didn't send anything back or take anything home. Will definitely be back!!Food: 5/5
Great casual place. Good food and friendly people. Great location right on the ocean. Outdoor space for dining in the good weather. Nice specials that expand the menu. Mike the owner works hard to make it a nice experience for all. Pictured is a special item of pork chop with potato and stuffing. It was delicious. This place is not fancy but it is a great place to go and have fun with the friendly people and staff and enjoy good food
The food was excellent. The sea food was fresh and delicious. The bartender, who was also one server, was friendly, very knowledgeable about the menu, and made great suggestions and great cocktails! We sat at the high top tables in the bar area, and the atmosphere was good. The only negative was the hostess, who was rude, dismissive, and a bit nasty. We turned to leave after trying to talk to her. Thank goodness the bartender stopped us and encouraged us to eat at the high tops.
Small, cozy restaurant on the bay side of Cape Cod. Offers a variety of menu options something for everyone. Biggest complaint: they were understaffed & overbooked. Our reservation was for 6 pm for 7 people. What was supposed to be a fun family dinner to celebrate a 60th birthday, was anything but. We felt extremely rushed by the waitress, who would take a drink or appetizer order, disappear for 10-15 minutes to serve other tables then expect us to order when it was convenient for her. Typically a party larger than 6 is allotted at least 2 hours…the waitress that served us was rude and was always in a hurry to get to another table. Within 90 minutes, we had a drink, appetizers, our dinner entrees and the bill. It felt more like a fast food restaurant instead of the family birthday celebration it was meant to be. As soon as our dinner plates were cleared, she dropped off our check. No one even had a chance to think about dessert. During one of her trips PAST our table, she has the nerve to say we had to leave because they had another party coming in. My family & friends were shocked and I as the hostess was embarrassed. We had just spent almost $100/per person and were being rushed out because they don’t know how to properly schedule reservations for large parties. We’ve been on the Cape for over 40 years and have never been treated so poorly. Not worth the trip from Harwich. Parking: Behind restaurant
I went here on 8/25 with 7 people, and I got the french onion soup, which was by far the best French onion soup I've ever had. My aunt she enjoyed what she got, but they messed up a little on her order. And it was way too loud to the point that my family couldn't hear what we're saying. My mom loved what she got. I still would come here again. I would also recommend the french onion soup
The food here is mediocre. The service is slow. A glass of water is a tiny cocktail glass. I ordered the Stuffed Scallop, stuffed with lobster and mushrooms. Instead I received a plate of small scallops baked in butter with breadcrumb topping. There was no sign of any lobster, and the mushrooms were little shavings. My mother's Cape Cod Reuben was the worst she'd ever had. Neither one of us could finish our dinners. Wheelchair accessibility: The front door is wheelchair accessible; however there's a brick sidewalk out front that's difficult to roll on.
... gathered family and friends for a double birthday celebration .. nice enough atmosphere .. wait staff was very pleasant and the conversation was great! .. mixed reactions to the food .. any entre needs to be constructed with fresh ingredients.. the fish portions were quite small, my fried oysters were terrible .. plated on top of re-heated fries and slaw served in a thimble .. unless you're thirsty for an adult beverage there's no reason to try anything on the menu ... there are better choices and likely better outcomes elsewhere ..
This is a must if you visit the town of Barnstable in Cape Cod. Be ready to pay the price for good food not extravagant - but more than most family restaurants - well worth the cost. The service is excellent, the food was amazing both times I have visited. Definitely worth every penny. This is such a lovely place to eat and relax. You can’t go wrong with any fish you order.
Reputation for quality is well deserved. I was born and raised in a seafood Mecca and I was impressed enough to go back twice in the same week. Crumb crusted scrod, baked scallops and steak entrees were all wonderful. Calamari was excellent. Buffalo cauliflower was good and not too spicy. We enjoyed the key lime pie with strawberry ice cream and mudpie for dessert and can recommend both. Service was prompt, warm and efficient. I will be making the Dolphin Restaurant a family tradition. Thanks!
