Went in when there was light rain. They said they had closed the pool due to lightning strikes. There were blue skies after about 15 mins of rain. The lifeguards on duty kept the pool closed simply because they didn’t want to work. I even spoke to the “head” life guard on duty and she informed me that they were trained by the Red Cross. Do they employ meteorologists at the Red Cross? I know I’m ranting but, you’d think that the contractors who built the pool would think to ground it considering it is located in flagstaff. Young employees at the front desk don’t know what they’re talking about. No supervisor on duty after 5pm I was told, which is CRAZY. Explains why the lifeguards run the show after that time. I would recommend going only on the clearest of days outside or else they will find any little reason to close the pool. If it’s not the weather it’s “maintenance”. Over the past month the pool has been closed 2-3 times for an EXTENDED amount of time for “maintenance”. Poorly run government building.
We were super excited to have our son's 4th birthday party at the Aquaplex. We rented a room and had around 10 kids join. The pool was clean and well staffed. I found it a little odd that kids had to be within arm's reach of an adult at all times even if they knew how to swim. This was strictly enforced. My 6 year old son was not tall enough to ride the water slide, which felt arbitrary. They did a drill where everyone had to get out of the pool and stand there for around 5 minutes so they could "check the pool," again a little odd and unnecessary but not the end of the world. Far and away the largest issue came around 15 minutes before our room rental time was up when we received the room's clean up sheet. It required us to clean the room, clean and disinfect every table and counter, take out all of the trash bags to the dumpster outside, sweep the floor, and mop the floor before the end of our rental slot or we would not get our deposit back 15 minutes from now. There were four young adults at the check in desk, each one on their personal phones, and every interaction with them felt like an inconvenience, such as when I politely asked where we could find cleaning supplies that were not provided to us since we would need new trash bags, paper towels, cleaning wipes, a broom and a mop. I felt the lack of notice of the deadline and cleaning requirements was almost done on purpose, because there was absolutely no way we were going to be able to do this level of cleaning in 15 minutes. It took 4 adults 30 minutes of hustling to get this done, because if any step was skipped, we would not receive a refund. When we finished and had our area inspected, we were told since we were 15 minutes past our rental time that we would not get our deposit back even there were no other room rentals for the day. This felt like a ploy. While we were cleaning as fast as possible, we were reprimanded because our 4 year old went into the pool by himself and had to be removed by a life guard, as if that was an inconvenience. We politely told the staff of our concerns and it was met with a disingenuous response. I will never return to the Aquaplex for a birthday rental.
This is a great multipurpose facility. There's weights, cardio, free form machines, dance/yoga studio, basketball, pickleball, lap pool, lazy river, water slides, a very hot jacuzzi, Rockwall, meeting event roo.s, lounge, air hockey, showers, City events too.
Lots to like here. Gym is good for what you pay. Affordable childcare that I feel comfortable leaving my son is great. Pool is set up great for little ones and I appreciate that they have parent and <5 year old hours. I do wish the pool was warmer, my almost 2 year old can only tolerate about 20 minutes in the water here before his lips are blue and he’s shaking. I’ve tried long swim suits, but they don’t work. It’s a bummer because he loves swimming and we always find ourselves leaving before we want to.
We regularly enjoy going to swim and do other activities here. It could use a more adequate cleaning system, as the locker rooms frequently show the signs of use. The people are friendly and helpful.
The staff at the counter is very friendly but man those life guards. I watched them tell at everyone for everything. And then they kept yelling. My 5yr old was miserable because this pool is not designed with young kids in mind. The showers were nice though. Will not be going back

Public pool that's closed on Sundays right when families would want to use it. EVERYTHING from City of Flagstaff is managed for the convenience of the agency that runs it or our cranky population of narcissistic old granolas..... The needs of working families aren't even on the agenda here or they would have later hours for kids to play basketball especially during summer break.
A great location for community events. Rental prices as low as $25. I have hosted and participated in numerous events here such as the North Country Health Care Business and Community Health Fair. A great location, conveniently located with facilities including rock climbing, cardio, strength training and pool.
Why do locals get a cheaper rate than people who live in Phoenix?! They don't tell you about height restrictions for the slides so my daughter's couldn't go on them, there are so many rules & the lifeguards are mean & way too strict. Very small so you are done in less than an hour. They also do not check you out so be careful you return the key or you leave your driver's license there. Very disappointing experience.
