The Gift House

Cute gift shop with a good wine selection. My mother in law from Oklahoma visited Hood River with my husband many years ago and fell in love with the town and wineries. Today we stopped by to grab a gift for her, two bottles of wine. I was pretty embarrassed when they refused to sell to me because I was pregnant even though they were gifts for my mother in law. They told me they were not allowed and it was illegal in the state of Oregon to sell to a pregnant woman so I walked out to grab my husband to buy the wine for me. I was curious about the alleged law because it is illegal to refuse the sale to a pregnant women in Texas where we are from. I did some research on Oregon.gov and could not locate a law prohibiting the sale. I understand the store reserves their right to refuse, or if the town had their own set of laws, but to be told it was Oregon state law was simply incorrect and I wish we would have just not bought the wine at all.

A cute shop with local gifts. I accidentally left my purchase at a different shop in Hood River. Someone found my purchase and brought it back to The Gift Shop. The owner mailed my purchase to me at her own expense! in MN and included with it, a couple of surprise items I didn’t even purchase! It was such great customer service!

This is a cool and beautiful tourist site. It’s in a beautiful location and they have amazing trinkets! The guy who helped us has only worked there for five days but he was a chill guy who made some funny jokes and helped us find some prices on gifts! I’d highly recommend this place!

It was closed during our visit even though the sign was turned to open. We were able to peak through the window and it looked really neat. Hopefully next time we visit it'll be open
