The Golden Library
"The Golden Library is inside the Golden Student Success Center and houses a few special collections, an archive, multipurpose rooms, study rooms equipped with technology, flexible seating, and a computer lab. We are also home to one of the largest science fiction special collections in the academic world. We have databases and other electronic resources for distance learners, and we have tons of books and other physical resources in the library. This is a fantastic place to study, gather resources, get help from a librarian, or just grab a bagel and socialize."

This place is great. It has some nice study rooms, nice study areas, and some good food from Einstein Bagels. I enjoy studying here, especially in the napping pods. The only reason that I won't give this place a 5 star rating is because the hours at this COLLEGE Library are not adequate. Why on Fridays do you guys close at 8pm? Not all college students are out partying or going home. Some, maybe even most of us are out here working our brains to get better, but the library hours are interfering with that. The library is the best place to come to study and read a book. But, the hours are throwing everyone's groove off. I can understand maybe closing around 10 pm on a Friday, but 8pm is a little excessive. Even closing at 12 during Monday-Thursday is kind of upsetting because most of us college kids are up studying til about 2. I understand that there may be problems into why the library can't be open 24/7, but I just wish the hours would change a little.
This is one of the best staffed libraries that I have ever experienced. This is no small compliment as I've been to many, many libraries, both public and academic, both as a patron and as an employee. The bulk of the collection, housed on the 1st floor and primarily for student research, is more than thorough. The 2nd floor has Special Collections and is home to the 3rd largest sci-fi lending library in the US [not sure where it ranks on a global scale]. Special Collections is also home to a very impressive collection of archival items, antique, and Southwest history books. These are just the basics, but I'll return to elaborate more when possible.
Beautiful building, great library workers, great food however there are a lot of problems for this to be considered a University Library. 1.The hours are very limited for a University. 2. I am not certain if the building was truly built with education in mind, since the purpose in the building seems more toward entertainment rather than academic use. Every time I go to study I have noticed that there is always a large number of people in the study rooms simply watching movies or blocking their doors. Sadly the only way to study some days is to be in one of those rooms too, as it can be quite loud in the building. 3. If I go in the mornings to study I have noticed that there is always trash left around throughout the study rooms, and the tables are often not cleaned. A few of my books have ended up with sticky residue simply because there were no clean desks and I had to set my book somewhere. four. the website is a bit…weird. Theres no color, no pictures, its very one dimensional. I heard rumors that the best services were to be online, but in technical writing everyone knows that you have to attract viewers with visuals. Idk why the site is so bland, but I have seen community colleges with more comprehensive and pretty looking websites. Eventually the text on that solid white background kinda hurts my eyes. Also why is it on my portal and not the enmu website or its own website…kind of weird. Portals are by definition more limited then traditional websites due to security. I dont know if the building is best suited for those who truly pursue academics, and I am unaware of many facilities on campus for people who are. Sadly I may have to consider leaving ENMU just to find a campus that actually allows me to study. With my student fees being as much as my tuition and students seeking to work, I expect better. I am paying so much money at the campus and there is nothing to support me for the amount I pay. It just seems like im expected to party and have fun and not become the best, since theres nothing here to support that. I really wish I could say better about a beautiful building.
Very comfortable and nice place to study. Quiet. There are meeting rooms, copy machines, computers. As well as cubicles, couches and lots of outlets as needed. There is an Einstein Bros also.
I dont even go to enmu, but I found the library and staff to be amazing. Specifically the "scandinavian esque"design I dont know exactly the styleis refreshing for this region of new mexico. I'll be back to study. The librarian I ran into was extremely helpful explaining the uses of the library features and uses. I haven't been back to study yet, but it looks like a great change of environment to study in the local area.
So I'm a former student and some over weight lady who works the Enmu desk said I couldn't use a personal computer even with my i.d and recommendation and transcript from the college hmm interesting very unprofessional over weight and incompetent weight not a issue but she has as much discipline as Buda unsatisfied customer service its a state thing
One of the Best Colleges in the US.
