Description

The Goodwin Library is a public library that serves as an information center for the personal, cultural, and social growth for the community of Farmington, NH. The Library maintains collections and implements programs that address the community’s changing informational and recreational needs for education and literacy. The collections, materials, and programs are offered in a variety of formats to ensure equitable access for all. The Library believes that free and open access to information and resources will establish the framework for an informed and involved community.

The Public Library Association was formally organized on December 8, 1890. In 1927 the land on which the present library stands was purchased from E.T. Wilson. George Goodwin of West Milton was persuaded to build a library and thus provide not only a source of learning for the youth of the community but to create an enduring memory to his name. The corner stone was laid on August 23, 1928, the Goodwin Library was dedicated on May 10, 1929 and was opened for business the next day. Today the library contains approximately 17,000 volumes and has a circulation of 20,000.

The Goodwin Library, located on 422 Main Street, is open Monday/ Wednesday/Friday 10am-5pm, Tuesday /Thursday 2pm-8pm, and Saturday 10am-2pm. The Library is closed on Sundays. Our telephone number is (603) 755-2944.

Love our library! Built in 1928 and expanded over time to include a children's room, a lula elevator as well as a lift to the beautiful Community room. It is my privilege to be the Director of very capable staff members!
Friendly, welcoming staff willing to help you find whatever read you desire. If not available in this small family friendly place they know where to get it. Stop in get your next great adventure started, best of all it is free.
My mom has been a children's librarian here for almost 20 years. I spent a lot of my high school after school hours here. This is like my second home. Staff is super friendly and helpful. If they don't have what you're looking for, they are more then willing to reach out to other libraries.
Very nice experiences and very nice people in the library. However...recently went to return some stuff, and realized that the outside drop box is gone. Hours are a little conflicting to get things back on time.
kids section is packed with wonderful books and the librarians are motivated and so cheerful, great people, great atmosphere, love to just go there and read!
Historic local. Google "Goodwin Book Massacre" when you have the opportunity. Simply facilitating! 5/5 -Doc Gumby
