The Graham School Foundation (GSF) supplements the The Greenburgh-Graham School District budget so that these deserving students can have the same access to success as students in other school districts.
The Graham School students, predominately from urban New York City, are the highest risk and most underserved children. Their community and home lives have failed them. The obstacles for success and emotional stability are overwhelming. These children come from physically and emotionally unsafe homes, multiple failed foster home placements, child protective services, and juvenile detention centers. It is mission of the School District to increase the likelihood of their success by creating an academically stimulating program, within a therapeutic, safe environment, that motivates them to invest themselves in school and their future. It is the Foundation’s mission to even the playing field and supplement the school district’s programming so that all students’ learning styles and needs can be addressed and the achievement gap closed. Through cultural, experiential learning and athletics, we can introduce students to positive outlets as they build relationships. Through performing and fine arts, we can help students develop cultural literacy. With new tutors and personal coaches, who can assist in delivering thought-provoking lessons and enriched classes, we can increase our students’ intellectual curiosity. Most important, each student will have the opportunity to find something they are passionate about and succeed at it. Knowing success breads success, our mission in helping students find their strengths, believe in themselves, and reach their full potential, will be met. All our students will be college and/or career ready with this support
