The Great Serengeti Indoor Water Park

About

The Great Serengeti Indoor Water Park features a body & tube slide, lazy river, zero depth entry activity pool, water basketball, and a relaxing Jacuzzi.

Description

It may not be one of Minnesota’s larger indoor water parks, but the Great Serengeti Water Park in Owatonna, Minnesota makes up in style what it lacks in square footage. It has a cool sergenti theme that stands out among indoor water parks. Its life-sized giraffe and hippopotamus are certain to delight the tots, while the high-speed slides keep older kids entertained.

This water park is connected to the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Owatonna, where you can find the usual assortment of rooms and amenities. You don’t have to rent a room to access the water park, though. There are also day passes available to the general public at a slightly higher price than hotel guests pay. If you do want to stay at the hotel, look for packages that include admission, as that often results in the best deal.

The Great Serengeti isn’t as expansive as you might expect given the dramatic name. At about 14,000 square feet, it’s small compared to many other indoor water parks in Minnesota. Still, along with the neat African decorations, it has water attractions to appeal to both children and adults. Here are the highlights:

Body Slide
Tube Slide
Lazy River
Activity Pool with Zero Depth/Beach Entry
Food Delivery Available from Onsite Bar and Grill
All in all, the Great Serengeti Waterpark is a great place to stay if you’re traveling to Owatonna, or live in the area and need a fun weekend getaway. It’s especially well suited to families with young children, as the water park is a safe and fun place for them to play under the supervision of mom and dad. One major bonus for parents: with a roof overhead, you won’t have to worry about constantly slathering your kids with sunscreen.

Fun place. Shaded place. It’s busy but. It’s nice. Bring your own snacks, concession is expensive amd line is long. Breaks on the hour every hour for 15 min if it’s hot-like 89-90+ Lazy river find places for the little ones to splash. Prepare to maybe tip over/flip on the tube slides IN the double Tube. Kids get a face full of water and If not used to it , get scared. Not a ton of Chairs. Come early
Nice place. Large pool. I always struggle to get a chair. I suggest going early or after 2:00pm for chances at a chair!! The lazy river is nice too
Great place, and great prices! I just don’t like the overcrowding in the pool, not much room to swim.
This was amazing, not busy, good was good, 10ft area was Great, love the rock wall idea! Me and my friends had a great time. Highly recommended
Loved it, was a perfect place to get to see my kids and grand babies...only wished I had known it was grandparents day,
Our family really enjoys this place and looks forward to visiting. So far this summer, we have been here twice. Once at the beginning of the season which was amazing. My review mainly discusses the lazy river. My favorite thing because I can sneak in a no impact workout while in the water. The first time, there were TONS OF TUBES AND MORE PEOPLE THERE. There were so many tubes that they were constantly put to the side and there was a steady stream of tubers going down the tube slide. About a month later and there is less than half of the tubes there. I heard life savers blaming it on customers who were using double tubes and they were only one person ... I saw TONS of customers waiting and frustrated because there were no tubes. I heard people talking about leaving because their kids wanted to go down the slides but could not because of tubes available. I saw people saving tubes during the break because they did not want to wait or search. By my observation, the most used area are the slides and lazy river. That's HUGE. tubes should be priority through the hole season... I want to come back a few more times, it's an hour drive and I don't want to have to fight for a tube when that's what I drive for. Please fix this so it can be fun and amazing instead of what I experienced last time. People don't come to hear and feel frustration at a pool/water park.
Took my 3 kids and they had a blast. Easy to find. Great shade. Plenty of chairs. They do charge admission wether you swim or not but $7 is worth it!! Wish the weather was a bit better so we could have stayed longer
Nice place. Needs a diving board. 10ft section.
Be nice if they added something every few years. So much land around the place yet no expansion.
I feel like they are not really watching you because both my sibling almost drown while lifeguards on duty
