Environmentally Handmade Home Accessories
I started The Green Hand Company because I could not find thoughtful eco handmade gifts to give my family, friends and clients that were beautiful, elegant and had an eco message behind the work. Once I started creating bowls as gifts, I found that my clients were ecstatic about the porcelain. They encouraged me to make more because they wanted to purchase them to give as gifts for their friends.
Each piece that I create starts from a ball of wet porcelain thrown on the potter's wheel and then hand-carved to create an original work of art. I do not use any stamping or mould making of any kind during the process. The shapes and sizes of my pieces change and develop as I work freely and intuitively.
My biggest obstacle is repetition. Coming up with new designs is the easiest component of my art practices. With my Biscayne Bay Porcelain Collection, the white on white distressed glaze is the only restriction that I give my pottery. Everything else is free to evolve and change.
