This place is a treasure. We walked in to the charming building and we were greeted by the smiling hostess. At the table our server Christina was extremely professional and friendly. After she found out that we weren't from the area she explained other places to go and enjoy. Through the meal which was some of the best food my wife and I have had in a while we couldn't stop talking about the amazing details of the restaurant. We had great converstaions with Mark and Jerry who were all also clearly proud of the establishment that showed us old pictures of the town. Amazing place
Great decorations downstairs especially. The food was way worth it. $34 for a filet, veggies, and red potatoes. Id recommend adding a mushroom sauce it was delicious. I wish it came with more of its sides though. Also if they had a print out of their specials drinks and desserts it would go a long way. It's a bit awkward to have the server repeat a long list a few time. That's my only real criticism. It doesnt change my rating at all I'd go back often.
Highly disappointed. My husband and I brought friends visiting from out of state as we had heard excellent reviews about the place. First, the entry way was poorly designed as there was nowhere to wait without being in someone's way. Additionally, they made it seem like you had to have a reservation; when we said we didn't have one, the hostess said "well I'll see if I can seat you." The place was not busy at all, so I don't see what the problem was; they also ignored us for a while. I do have to give one extra star just for decor; we were seated in the wine cellar and the place is gorgeous! Service was incredibly slow and we ended up being there 3 hours because of it. They also brought our meals out slowly one at a time, which was really awkward. I got the sausage and chickpea soup which was average; the sausage had a different seasoning than I was expecting but it wasn't bad. I also split a spinach ceasar salad with a friend, and that's what I enjoyed the most. Spinach was very tender, although it barely had any dressing on it whatsoever. My husband got the crab cake, and our friends got a burger and salmon wrap; other than the burger being huge, nobody was impressed by their food and everything was way overpriced. My husband, who loves crabcakes, actually said it was the worst he'd ever had and was pretty sure the meat was fish and not crab. Very disappointed based on all the glowing reviews we had heard, we will not be going again.
Went here for the first time and the last time in one visit. I got the crab cake yes one and I have had crab cakes from MANY other places. The only crab cake you get tasted like they had no crab in them what so ever. It was just chucks of fish mushed together cake form. The worst part of this that it cost $35 for one! Really, that much for one fish cake. Also, the caesar salad I got had no caesar dressing on it. The other guests in my party did not enjoy their experience as well. Coming into the restaurant you feel like your in the way and the staff pushes through you making you feel like your an inconvenience to them. We waited so long to be seated even though it was not busy and there was only one table taken up downstairs besides us. The service was so slow, we were there for 3 hours total. After, we regretted going their and bringing our friends for this way to overpriced disappointment.
Service was awful. After our waiter heard that we were not ordering alcoholic beverages, he lost all interest in being attentive to our table. It took over an hour to get our meal. Once our meal came, my meal was bland, lack-luster, boring -- it was the fish-of-the-day prepared "according to the chef's recommendation." Our waiter promptly took my meal back and then brought me a Greystone salad because I didn't want the four other people I was with to have to wait another hour for my meal to come. Obviously, I was less than impressed by my experience at this restaurant and will not be returning.
I went there after work for appetizers and a drink. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean but as we were sitting at the bar a slow stream of water came out from under it. It was cleaned up quickly but no one had any idea where it came from. The food was ok. Some appetizers were overcooked but some were just delicious. I would go back.
We have been there twice so far and the food is awesome and the service is one of the best that I had come across in a long while. He knew the whole menu and was able to accommodate my wife's needs and my friend's wife needs for the their special diet. If you are ever near this you owe to yourself to go. It is well worth it. Try the roast boar
I've had 3 great experiences at Greystone in the past with their food and well stocked bar. Their menu has good quality food for the price and they add new items frequently. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was extremely disappointing. We were told that there was a private event being hosted no signs posted or notice on their website and that the two of us would be a burden on the kitchen staff and would not be served food. I asked if we could be seated at the bar and eat from there, as to not take up valuable table space, and were told that we could purchase drinks but would not be served dinner unless it was convenient. The matradee was extremely rude and we decided to dine elsewhere. I will not be returning to The Greystone and I hope those of you who decide to dine there will have better luck than us with their service. However, the bartender we had was extremely nice and made us feel somewhat welcome.
Service is ok. Good portions Prime Rib and vegetables were poorly seasoned. One odd thing I was asked about a reservation... Was told let me see if we can seat you... There was 2 parties down stairs. Dining Room was empty. Was just a weird situation.
Someone below me commented "Gay bar." Typical "Skook" response to one of the BEST restaurants not only in the area, but in the Central PA area. We travel quite extensively to many exotic places around the world, and rarely do we find the quality of service and food as we do at The Greystone. It is a great culinary experience. The wait staff is trained very well, and the atmosphere and menu change seasonally. It took guts for an owner to open a restaurant like this in an area that mainly consists of backwoods hicks who would rather have a greasy pizza and cheese-steaks, than to experience fresh food of this magnitude, combined with an extremely creative chef.
