The Play That Goes Wrong had our whole family in stitches 21-80yrs old! If you've seen Noises Off, it was a similar vibe. The comedic timing was perfect! Highly recommend! They even had a special headset for a family member who is blind so she could understand what was going on. BRAVO!!!
Came last year for the first time and came back again! Saw Coriolanus Thursday matinee. It was in the Anes black box theatre and was marvelously cast. Very happy I got to see such a rare produced work of Shakespeare
USF had outdone itself this year! All five plays we saw were amazing. A Raisin in the Sun was extremely thought provoking and week done. A Mid Summer Night's Dream was an explosion of colors and characters. The Play that Goes Wrong was a technical and comedic marvel. Romeo and Juliet was refreshingly clear throughout and shocking at times. And Emma the Musical was as bubbly as advertised and dare I say, better than the book. We took a long time deliberating which we liked best and it was a tie between Emma and Raisin. Wish we could've seen Timon of Athens and Coriolanus, but they'll open later. Definitely worth seeing again. They will give $10 off per ticket this season with this code seminar23.
The Utah Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City is an absolute gem for theater enthusiasts! I had the pleasure of attending a performance there, and it was a truly magical experience. The outdoor setting adds a unique charm to the productions, and the talented cast brings Shakespeare's timeless works to life with passion and skill. The festival's commitment to quality shines through in every aspect, from the captivating performances to the stunning costumes and set design. The friendly staff and beautiful surroundings make it a memorable cultural event for all. If you're looking for a delightful blend of classic theater and natural beauty, this festival should be at the top of your list.
We saw Emma the musical and honestly I wasn't looking forward to it. Plays turned into musicals can sometimes be weird It was wonderful! The stage was very minimal but worked. Costumes fit the period. And the acting superb! The adaptation was well done, the songs interfaced very well and I liked it better than the movie. I highly recommend!
I saw six shows from the 2023 season, and I must say, the 2023 season is one of the strongest seasons I have ever experienced. I have been coming to the Festival for about 30 years now, and the 2023 season was simply marvelous. Timon of Athens was a fantastic. The pacing of the play was perfect, and the acting was incredible. The costumes were great. Emma the Musical was Broadway worthy. The Play that Goes Wrong was one of the funnies plays I have seen. Midsummer was extremely strong. Highly recommended.
Great performances! Awesome venue! Gift shop could be better :/ also, if planning to attend during first week of school, make sure you call a head to a restaurant for a reservation if you plan on eating out while attending!
I have enjoyed each of the plays very much! A Raisin in the Sun was my favorite this year, but the voices on those in Emma were incredible! The Play that went wrong was hilarious the actors need mics and, of course, Romeo and Juliet was brilliant! I highly recommend anyone come to these plays!
World-class theatre - especially of the Shakespearean kind. Originally established by Fred Adams, the USF in Cedar City has become well known for its numerous Shakespearean productions. However, other plays, musicals, and theatrical productions are staged in the various halls on campus. Prior to the heavy-hitting shows, there is also a Green Show performed by up-and-coming talent in the outdoor stage to the east. There is also refreshment and food for sale, and there are two very nice gift shops. We love this place and have been in the audience enjoying various productions for many years.
We greatly enjoyed The Play That Goes Wrong this year, including kids age 8 to 17 and the adults. Of our family's five day trip that included Brian Head, my kids told me the play was their favorite part of the whole trip. We'll skip the greenshow next time because it was an amateur appreciation of culture rather than a show. My kids only enjoyed the $3 suckers we bought them, and I just missed the professional and usually humorous Renaissance shows of decades past.
