Went on 5/13/23. Very nice docent took us around. Bigger than it looks from the outside, approx 3200 sq ft with main floor and basement. Unique exhibits. Enjoyed!
Excellent portrayal of the history for Burke County. There were plenty of exhiits to look at. Th tour guide was knowledgeable and proved an interesting view into the past. If you have never been to this museum I can only recommend it highly. Great place!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitPrice for adult entryFree
Each display was arranged with details in mind. Very clean. Friendly and helpful staff. They touched on every category possible such as battles, crime cases, sports, gold & gem mining, textile, clothing, furnitures, education, crops and family history. I really learned many things I didn't know and enjoyed the time I was there.
What a great little museum. Tons of articles from the area and a very knowledgeable staff.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
The lady that took us around was very informative. Enjoyed her being our guide. It just took a long time to get through is all, no one’s fault, just a lot to see. We once got to go through it without anyone and it was much faster, but of course no cool stories.
Great information all around

There is a wealth of local history contained in the thousands and thousands seriously! of cultural artifacts housed here. While the collection is impressive—and displayed well given the material circumstances—I'd love for the History Museum to be housed in a historical building or a more appealing traditional architecture style more fitting to the subject matter. The staff was friendly and eager to offer free tours. This institution deserves better funding and a more prominent position in the downtown ecosystem.
The place is amazing!!! The guide was so kind and knows a lot about the museum. In the website says that the tour is about 1-2 hours but we took almost 2 hours, so be prepared. The musseum has a lot to offer and each room has it's unique history.
This museum is truly a hidden gem. Coming from the city, my friends and I were charmed by the warm and hospitable staff. We were given a tour by a gentleman who was extremely knowledgeable of the local history of this community. Thank you so much, we look forward to hopefully coming back soon.
