THE HOMESTEAD kitchen, bar & bakery

About

From our beginning in 1982, it appeared essential to us to buy the best ingredients to produce the best foods and keep people coming back. This remains our policy.

"Homestead is Houston’s kitchen in the Heights inspired by the diverse cultures that have long influenced our city, bringing Houston’s signature cuisines together under one roof. The indulgence of Tex-Mex dishes, bright and spicy Louisiana flavors, and back-to-biscuits Southern influences are the heartbeat of Houston. Offering beloved comfort food for brunch, lunch, and later every day of the week, Homestead is a home away from home for Heights families and friends."

Food and service was excellent! Coffee was freshly brewed. I ordered the cheese Entomatadas which were full of flavor and very filling. We also shared the beignets that came freshly baked and with a warm caramel dipping sauce. My party ordered the chicken and waffles and biscuits and gravy to which they all stated were 10/10.Food: 5/5
At the beginning hostesses seemed upset and had a little bit of an attitude, and it wasn't just a professional seriousness kind of thing, it looked and felt more like a bad mood situation, when that happens it rubs me the wrong way... a welcoming/smiling/polite host/hostess has more of an impact that most business owners would like to recognize. Thank God it didn't set the tone for the rest of the experience. Server Maria from El Salvador was good, kind and very attentive. Hostess was probably stressed, site was packed, we had to wait around 15min to get a table Sunday early Afternoon. We started with Chips and Queso, nothing too special about that ... had the Creamy Spinach and Rajas Omelet and the Homestead Omelet, these were decent, but the stars of the brunch were the mandarine-blueberries pancakes, thought they were a little too pricey at the beginning, but afterwards the flavor and consistency made me think they worth every single penny. My girl had the drink in the photos, I don't remember the name, but it was tasty and refreshing. I believe it was a Mezcal Margarita on the rocks. Definetly coming back. Ambiance is pretty cool.
Went on mother's day- the wait-list moved pretty quickly. Our dishes all came super fast and the food was so good. Not a single person in our party had leftovers. The breakfast tacos were super delicious. The eggs Benedict were also delicious, as was the lamb special. Also parking was pretty easy and I wasn't sacrificing my first born to find a spot which is always a plus. We will be returning to this restaurant!
Good place for casual lunch. We ordered our first round of drinks. The Bloody Mary and a frosé, they were meh at best so we order an other round, Hurricane and a Paloma, they were still not great. Service wise, the team does great and friendly. Bathroom needs more attention. I’d skip the chips and guacamole next time. The classic French toast was amazing, carnitas we’re okay but the sides rice and charro beans were delicious. Will probably come back again to try some more items.
We went to Homestead Bar and Grill for a graduation celebration. The food looked amazing, but it wasn't as tasty as it looked. EXCEPT for the Brisket emphanada, that was tasty. The fajitas were tough and flavorless, and then I tried the waffles and chicken. The waffles tasted like the batter was made up of only flour and water; and the chicken was seasoned but not to my liking. I posted a salad that looked delicious, but I didn't get a chance to taste it. The customer service was ok. Our waiter seemed frustrated because he was asked to remove the menus and waters to decorate the tables for the graduate, but he continued to assist us. Towards the end, his demeanor changed for the better. $$ pricey
I went for my 21st birthday yesterday and had an absolute blast!! I had a large group with me and they were very accommodating and patient with us, and my server/bartender Joseph was fantastic. He took great care of my people, I will definitely be back. Food was incredible too, you have to try the chocolate banana bread French toast!!
Another fine service with Maria! Every time I visit, I find myself craving their irresistible chilaquiles and Nutella French toast, which are the perfect indulgence after a satisfying workout. The ladies here make the establishment feel like…well, home. Really efficient service and good food. I always recommend Homestead as a good brunch option on a weekend.
Wow. Wow. Fantastic food. The chilaquiles were delicious, the banana bread French toast was amazing. I was disappointed by the bacon, but everything else was fabulous.Recommended dishesChilaquiles Verdes
Place was good, food was good, def will not disappoint. Atmosphere and the overall vibes were good. Spanish music in the background was a nice touch if you are into that on a Saturday Eve. Pancakes were great, Brisket empanadas were good and Southern Fried Chicken was good. Def open to ordering any of those in the future, especially the pancakes!
Met here for lunch. I had horchata and the quesadilla plate with charro beans. Edgar was OK. Fairly slow afternoon, place was practically empty. We left around 1:30pm. Clean bathrooms and a decent music selection.
