Currently, I am a visual communications professor and a Freelance Designer, and love sharing my passion for art and design. My daughter and I are both retired teachers and our passion is to create keepsake prints and custom designs that will be treasured for years to come. We also love to share tips and techniques related to many forms of art and media because we love exploring creative methods for making meaning with art. Jewels of Kingwood Create New Memories in Texas
Hey there... it's Kathy from The Jewels of Kingwood and here are some of the simple facts about us. We love to make art... we love to inspire others... and we love to create artistic keepsakes for people. Making "meaning through art" was the catalyst for how The Jewels of Kingwood blossomed into being in Kingwood, Texas in 2013. Art has been a passion of ours since childhood.
Ok... so who are we anyway?
You may be asking yourself... who is the "we or us" that call themselves the Jewels Of Kingwood? We we are retired teachers- my daughter and I... and both have fine art degrees and K-12 teaching credentials. We wanted to take those skills and continue "making art" that would have meaning for others. As artists and designers we not only wanted to inspire others and add meaning to special memories, we also wanted to take our love of multi-media and art to a new level. So here we are... creating handmade, custom designed greeting cards, high resolution art prints, home decor, and gifts that incorporate decorative and distressed papers, stamped designs, archival prints, and various embossed and embellished elements.
So how do we do this?
The creative process begins with sketches, research, design development, and then color matching to determine a theme for our vision. Once the theme is determined, then comes the real fun in choosing the elements that will be incorporated into each hand crafted work of art. Sometimes that can include computerized illustrations and font choices, and other times it incorporates hand drawn sketches that are colored by hand with watercolor pencils, alcohol inks, and a variety of other design tools.

You can find us online and in our online shop, you will find a variety of prints, cards and gifts that are very delicate and feminine, natural and masculine, and playful and full of whimsical elements. Other processes for adding meaning to the artwork might include distressed inking and rubber stamping, or adding embellishments with ribbons, buttons, fabrics, and other found objects. The images for our art prints and the dictionary art prints include research, photo editing and incorporate various processes to create the best images to deliver a specific visual message to the viewer. With each dictionary art print, we include a short bio of the person in the print. This process can sometimes be lengthy because we want to provide a summary that supports our design choices as these relate to the person's life we are showcasing in the print.
Each day is a blessing to be able to take our God given talents and turn our creative abilities into memorable and inspirational jewels. Each jewel shared with someone special helps the recipient to realize the lasting memories to be treasured from life's precious jewels we like to call memorable keepsake moments.
