This place was absolutely amazing! The food was great. The service was great. We were not disappointed at all. We each got a savory dish and shared. The potatoes that come on the side are the best potatoes I’ve ever had. I prefer shredded, but these were great. The food had great flavor to it and didn’t need much added seasoning. The orange almond French toast doesn’t have any orange taste to it but it was still great! We shared that too. The pancakes looked amazing. The pancakes looked super fluffy and enough to share and we’re definitely get that next time! Our waitress was great and super helpful! The wait for the three of us was 45 minutes between 11 and 12 o’clock, it was worth it! Definitely a place worth going back to!
Great brunch spot! I always anticipate a wait but there is shopping on Washington Street Mall nearby so it's easy to pass the time. The crab egg Benedict is fantastic the blueberry oatmeal pancakes are fresh and delicious as well . The brunch cocktails are a must as well. The wait staff is helpful and fast considering the crowds.Food: 5/5
The service here was wonderful, our server was so polite and kind. But the food here was okay. I got the Chesapeake bay Benedict and it was just fine. I also got the bitter elder cocktail with gin instead of makers mark. It was nice. My husband got the oatmeal pancakes and they tasted kind of undercooked and were dense. If we come back we would probably try the regular pancakes instead. They looked very fluffy.
I had the pleasure of dining at Mad Batter in Cape May, and it was an absolute delight. The cozy ambiance, friendly staff, and delectable dishes combined for a wonderful experience. The creative menu offered a range of options, and the flavors were simply exceptional. Breakfast is definitely their hot spot, making it a must-visit culinary gem in Cape May.
Had breakfast there this morning and want to give 4.5 stars. The kids ordered pancakes which were delicious. My partner ordered a breakfast platter and a mimosa. The mimosa was delicious and the platter had plenty of food. I ordered a spicy Bloody Mary and it was perfect! I love horseradish in my blood Mary, btw ;. I ordered the orange and almond French Toast. That's the half-star deduction. The serving size was small and the crust on my French toast was hard and a bit burnt. It was the least appetizing item on the table. While I wanted to love it, I just didn't. Otherwise, it's a great place and I would certainly return!
We were lucky to go when there wasn't a line but we heard that earlier in the day, there was a line basically around the block. Where we sat, there was a lovely garden outside the full-length windows. Kids pizza is the same size as the regular one; that was a surprise! Kids granola with fruit and yogurt had lots of very nice fruit. Omelet can't order smaller than the 3-egg was very nicely done although there wasn't a lot of crabmeat in the one I ordered. Comes with his home fries and one slice of toast. Cheese steak was reported to be good by a Philadelphian. Mahi tacos were good but not a lot of fish in them. Unfortunately, the blackened fish sandwich was so salty, it wasn't really edible. A few of us tasted to be sure it wasn't just the person who ordered. Music is loud. Place is bright and nicely done. Vegetarian options: More than the usual menu including vegan dishes.
Great little place a block from the Washington Mall. Worth the walk if you're looking for a bite while out on the mall! The good: Food was excellent, menus was simple but diverse. Their vegan menu was the best I've seen outside of a vegan restaurant! The bad: They didn't have Dr Pepper? Really there was no bad. Server wasn't 5 star black tie, but the best you could ask for outside of fine dining! Knowledgeable, attentive without hovering, and very personable. He made the experience fun! Drink list was great, decent draft beer list and cocktails on tap! Try the pirate rum punch, seriously don't question me just do it. We ordered the blueberry pancakes, vegan tostadas, farmhouse breakfast, and veggie panini. All were top notch. Atmosphere was high end B&B with eclectic beach art on the wall. Prices for breakfast and lunch were very reasonable for a touristy area, but the dinner menu was on the high end. Dietary restrictions: Good variety of dietary restriction options including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free.
Best breakfast in Cape May! I've tried a few dishes over the years but always come back to the Chesapeake Bay Benedict. The crab portion is enormous, the eggs are poached just right, and the saltiness from the capers complement the dish well. There isn't a ton of hollandaise sauce, but the dish doesn't really need it. The side of potatoes are cubed and fried well, with a crispy exterior and fluffy interior. Whether sitting by the garden or out front facing Jackson Street, the atmosphere is cool and photogenic. It's open every day year round, so it's possible to enjoy it without a long wait from the summer crowds. Service was prompt, the drinks were strong, and it's also very, very clean. The Mad Batter continues to be my favorite place to get breakfast on the island.
Is it too much to say this was possibly the best pasta dish I have ever had? Well to me it was! My husband and I came here a couple years ago and I got the special which was linguine with tomato sauce, with fresh mozzarella on top. I got it again this year and it was somehow even better than I remembered! The waitress said the sauce is house made and it tasted absolutely made from scratch! I am obsessed with this pasta, you just have to try it! Other things on the menu we would get again were the french toast, the lobster ravioli, the fish and chips, ceasar salad and clam chowder soup. Next time we visit I just might try the linguine with the creamy parmeson sauce instead to see how it compares with my favorite! Thank you for the good service and the yummy food!
Party of six was seated immediately on a nice Saturday in June. The crab cake was absolutely delicious and a fair price. Service was solid and there’s a ton of seating in the back. Individual restrooms were nice, too. Tons of vegan options on the menu although I didn’t try them. Breakfast served until three when I went.Recommended dishesCrab Cake Sandwich
