Our production schedule and baking methods represent the ideals of the traditional neighborhood bakery. Even though we remain committed to efficiency and organization, we will never bake enough product to match the typical industrial bakery. The Main Grain stands for quality that can only be achieved by using the best organic/local ingredients, skilled work with the hands, and modest, though appropriate, recipe sizes. These motives also align with our dedication to preserve the Good Earth.
To enjoy the bakery to its fullest extent, we encourage you to come as early as possible. The Main Grain is open Wednesday-Friday from 7 am to 5 pm, Saturday from 7 am - 3 pm, and Sunday from 9 am to 3 pm or until we sell out. Most loaves are ready and cooled by 7 am. If you are driving a distance, please call to make sure bread is available. Through your purchase, you make a critical choice to bring back the traditional, small-scale, neighborhood bakery.
The Main Grain will be taking special orders for bread and desserts. Please let us know if you need baked goods 48 hours ahead of time!

*Loaves come in round (boule) or long (batard), are naturally leavened/sourdough starter (no instant yeast), contain no added fat, sugar, dough conditioners, or preservatives, are made fresh daily, weigh approximately 1.5 lb., and use local & organic ingredients.
