The Market Barn was a fun place to poke around and explore. There's a large variety of stock shown in a neat and organized manner. If you're looking for furniture, be sure to go upstairs. There's a nice selection of chairs, tables and cabinets....mostly wooden. The lunch spot was being enjoyed by quite a few people, and I will try it on my next visit. I picked up several antique books on fly fishing, the Adirondacks, and Camp Fire Girls. If you're in or near Malone be sure to stop in.
Took a ride from Plattsburgh to shop at the Market Barn. I enjoyed looking around and saw a lot of nice/neat things. I found some things pricey and others very reasonable. All the enjoyment went to frustration due to the customer service. One of the items I had didn’t have a price tag on it. The cashier rudely said if it doesn’t have a tag I can’t sell it to you. One of the other items was very similar and had a tag. It was obviously from the same booth. I said to her that’s too bad I really wanted it. She said in such a rude voice and tone “I can not sell it”. She proceeded to say the best she could do is take down my name and number. I told her not to bother since I live an hour away. She was so rude about the situation. I was not demanding to buy it so there was no reason at all for her to act that way. The customer service I received was the bottom of the barrel and I won’t be going back!
Browsing was an enjoyable pastime, though I'm not generally attracted to homemade country crafts and kitsch of which there was plenty. I'm drawn to look for antiques which were somewhat less plentiful with the exception of a top floor of antique furniture. If your looking for nice used books, dvds, albums, or vintage comics and magazine you're likely to find something to satisfy. They have a nice selection of local honey, jams, jelly, pickles, relishes and the like, and I was especially appreciative to see so many sugar-free varieties of the jams and jellies. One vendor has an amazing selection of spices, teas, essential oils, artisan soaps, etc. I didn't eat at the deli, but whatever they were cooking smelled amazing.
All businesses had and are having a hard time. To survive be Positive and do not complane how bad things are you scare people away with your negativity.
I went in antique shopping because it was recommended to me. I found the whole experience underwhelming. It’s a mix of a few antique’s, lot of homemade crafts, there’s a deli in there which smelled good but no real organization & for the size of the building I feel there could be more “stuff”
A mix of crafts, antiques, and oddities. Individual booths from different sellers keep it interesting. Roomy enough that even though it was busy it never felt crowded. Contains a little sandwich shop that on the day of our visit was having a customer appreciation day. They offered a free lunch of homemade items.
Good stuff but rhe customer service needs work, not very friendly people working there at all,
Always so much variety and the deli never fails!
Large collection of mostly kitsch souvenirs. Some of the staff weren't particularly pleased with a disabled person perusing the shop.
We have been taking an hour and a half trip to the Market Barn for the last 15 plus years. It was truly an antique boutique gone wild. Each stall was a different person's collection of treasures. I have come home with many a find. Recent years have changed the kind of merchandise sold by individuals. More imported and dollar store items are in the numerous stalls. Some local crafts and a few antiques are still available, but it is not what it had been. While for me the next trip is not in the future, a first time visitor may spend a couple of hours.
