Founded in 2002, the mission of The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment is to develop and promote programs and techniques for ensuring sustainable water resources for human needs, ecosystem health and economic development.
In August, 2012, River Systems Institute was renamed in recognition of a generous gift by The Meadows Foundation, helping to focus research on water and its relationship with the environment.

Open to the Public. Glass-Bottom Boat Tours run daily. Endangered Species Aquarium, Wetlands Boardwalk, and hiking trails. Educational field trips and kayak tours by reservation.
