Disconnected service for "90 days past due" bill when we have only had service for 60 days. No contact was attempted, they just turned off the power one day. Update: I've bumped this up to 2 stars because NES did reach out to me after this review and explained to me that you get 1 automated courtesy call before disconnecting your service and that call might not even work. They also transfer your balance but don't update your account at all on the website so you think that you've paid off the balance at your prior address but that may not be the case. Lastly, they don't automatically add your new service address to your online account so you have to add it yourself and that isn't very clear.
I signed up for auto-pay online, which sounded like a great idea at the time. It worked for a few months and then stopped working, but I received no warning that my bill was not being paid until one morning I woke up with no power. No emails, no letters paperless billing!, nothing. The cherry on top is that now I have to pay a $33 reconnection fee. It’s nice not to have competition I guess.
Worst company ever. Got my second notice today that my payment didn’t go through due to insufficient funds and now I owe an additional $23. This has already happened before and last time I called to figure out how much I owed and what was going on. When I called all I owed was the $23 return charge. So what happened to my payment that apparently didn’t go through??? I asked if the return charge was still valid since my payment actually did go through. They said yes I still had to pay the return charge even though they did receive my payment??? Now I’m getting the same notice again. My bank statements show the money coming out. NES is just stealing money by making up return charges. Starting to think I should get with a lawyer or something because this is literally stealing!!!
Never experienced a power outage until the coldest day of 2022. Where you had the bright idea to turn off people's power rolling black out and you left my home without power for over 24 hours! My home froze , pipes froze and damaged my home. I take the appropriate steps. Not once did your claims depth return my call but sent a generic letter saying it's not NES fault. As long as I have had NES they NEVER ONCE had a payment problem. But that's means nothing! No help with paying back for the damage you inadvertently caused. No help with my abnormally high bill using fans trying to dry my house! Just a poor decision to roll black outs and leave people without power.. coldest day of the year... Xmas weekend
Just spoke on the phone with Bernice P. to get our electricity turned back on for a rental. She was amazing, so sweet, an absolute joy to talk to, and she made the process seamless. She needs a raise, y'all! Most enjoyable conversation I've ever had with someone dealing with bills, utilities or any customer service situation for that matter. <3 Thank you!
They are the worst service ever. All I needed was clarification on my account balance. I only moved into my current address for ONE MONTH and was charged $300! Mind you, I had already paid the $250 connect fee. When I called, the conversation was a myriad of circles - the rep couldn’t provide any concrete explanation. When I lived in a house, my electric bill in mid-winter full of snow/ice/cold was @$150. How is it over 300 living in an apartment? My service is scheduled for disconnection, even though I can pay the balance in two days willing to give post dated check, proof from employer I’m getting, anything. I just don’t understand how a utility company can be so evil, especially in the times we’re in now.
My Experience Here Is Like No Other. For Me It's A Pleasure To Interact With The Tellers, Security N All Of This Family, Oriented Staff. Just A Great Group Of People. They Really Enjoy There Jobs N It's Shows, In The Heartfelt Greetings N Concern In Taking Care Of Your Electric Bills, With A Smile. Their The Best. It's Nice To Know, That There Are Still People That, When It Come To You, You Are Not Bothering Them, When You Ask For Assistant, Especially When it's What They Do N In My Opinion Good At It. In Short, They Are GOOD. Go Team NES.
I’ve lived in a few different cities and this utility company is by far the worst one I’ve dealt with. Signed up for automatic payments and it worked out great for a while but I had to cancel it due to some personal things. The payment I thought I canceled processed anyway 5 days after the agreed upon withdrawal date leaving me with $150 in overdraft fees and a negative bank account. Took me an entire month to actually speak with someone about the issue because no one would call me back. When I finally did get someone on the phone, the supervisor told me I couldn’t edit a payment after the bill began the process but said maybe I altered the payment date when I canceled the agreement and she was sorry for my lack of understanding. Told me I should call the bank and explain to them my mistake. Ha! First off, it wasn’t my mistake. If the payment drafted when it was supposed to, there never would have been any fees assessed. And how in the world am I not able to alter a payment but I can change the payment date? Make it make sense. The following month my power was cut off due to non payment and a 60-day balance that was charged when my account was actively on autopay! Come to find out, the meter stopped working and they “guesstimated” my bill retroactively and by the time they sent it to me, I was already 45 days behind.not fair AT ALL Smh To top it all off, a supervisor told me I could get the power turned back on for a certain amount of money. Said she would “work with me”, notated it in the account and everything. This was after we played negotiation for about 5 min because just telling me how much I could pay was too much like right. When I called back to make the payment, I was told that “due to the system blah blah blah” I would have to pay the total amount. I ended up having to pay DOUBLE what the supervisor agreed to. At the end of the call, I asked the agent how to file a formal complaint and she told me she could have supervisor call me back. Wonderful offer but the 5-6 “supervisors” I’ve talked to in the last 2 months have been mediocre at best. I’ve spent hours of my life on hold and talking to them with no resolve or help whatsoever. I get being short staffed and all of America is over-worked these days but this is ridiculous. Some of the people that work here are great and very helpful. Others need some customer relations training or another career path altogether. I’ve never been a person to ask for special treatment or publicly complain but enough is enough. If I could trade service providers, I would pay to not have to deal with them any longer. Poor customer service, bad business practices and sketchy “rules” that no one informs you about until it’s your problem to fix, i.e. pay more money. They are a joke and I, for one, will be glad when the city has another option.
Bill last year was at on average 118 a month 2021 , come 2022 the ultimate scam ….they say throughout the comments that they have only raised it 3.2% i would like to inform you if you are looking to move into this area this is false. My new bill after also having energy saving equipment throughout my home -side note , has went up to $220 on average it was soo outrageous that at first I had to call them to make sure it wasn't a mistake. They assured me no mistake was made and that the reason for these increases were due to gas price inflation which over last year at the same time had only fluctuated $0.30 a gallon.
No notice of shutting off power, and I was out of town so all my food in refrigerator and freezer is ruined. $177 for a reconnect fee which is robbery, but he tells me I can call back the next day for a $33 reconnect fee. I call the next day and they’re closed for holiday. I’ve been unable to return home for days and I’m forking over my entire paycheck to these crooks
